I think the TR mold could have made a more accurate Star Convoy.
But I think the reasoning here is that one has been used quite a bit. Ultra Magnus, Legends Ultra Magnus, remolded to PM OP, and Skateboard Optimus, remolded again to Ginrai, and Not-Optimus, reissued original version as a second run of Legends UM.
This one had two runs. Optimus, and slight retool as Nemesis. That fact may have been the driving force to use this mold instead of the TR.

Indeed. That is a small point of confusion as is if Hasbro will do them too.
Like I said when we saw it at the Japanese toy show we all said Legends.

Its growing on me now that I realise its not really Star Convoy.
Its orignal prime transforming in to Action Master Prime then combining powermaster Prime style with the trailer to make a Star Convoy big Prime.
It's all the G1 Primes.

Yeah. The fact that he looks like normal optimus in costume doesn't make me like it any less. It makes a lot more sense and works a lit better than the original version of the mold.
And if this, Super Megs, and Armada Optimus are all part of a budgeted line (as opposed to each individual toy having it's own budget), then I'd far rather Armada get the new mold, and Megatron get the more extensive retooling.
