My sis got Disney+ and gave me a profile. Stoked that I finally get to see Runaways.
The real kicker though is that you can download the shows and watch offline! So I can download several things while at my parents, then watch whenever. (I've never had access to a streaming service, or a phone with a 126gb mostly empty card before, so forgive my ignorance if this is how they all work)
Anyway, I DLed Mandalorian this morning, because why not? It's gotta be smarter than the plot of TFA, right? RIGHT???

Watched the first two episodes.
I liked it! While still being an action drama, it doesn't take itself too seriously. It manages some good chuckles without becoming comedy.
The plot is so far relatively uncomplicated, while laying the groundwork for much deeper mysteries.
Overall, tone and writing feels much more on the level of Clone Wars and Rebels than the movies. Production values are really high. Two episodes, and each one feels like a full film, over a TV show.

I am about to watch ep.3.
I'd be surprised if anyone has gone spoiler-free with the show at this point when a good majority of folk online are gushing over one aspect of it. As always, I keep sensitive on here about Star Wars info/plotlines etc.
This is the Star Wars show I never knew I wanted. An awesome space western! A live-action version of Droids would have been awesome, but I am happy with what I have viewed so far.

Mild spoilers: Yoda is to me the single most obnoxious character in the franchise. Even above Jar-Jar and C3P0.
But that yoda baby is beyond precious.

(Hiding it in spoilers since its off topic) Everything. His personality. And the more he talks the more I want to set him on fire.
If Ahsoka did not appear in his episodes of Clone Wars, I would turn them off.

Finally caught up. Loving it. {Spoiler}There's a Will Eisner The Spirit/Judge Dredd feel about it, in the way the main character isn't always the driving force, and also takes a hell of a lot of punishment along the way.

I love it for its unpretentiousness, and how it fully embraces being a Star Wars show. Was so nice that my daughter is the right age now that we watched it together as the episodes dropped week by week.
Won't spoil it, but the climax to the third episode which completes that initial little arc is a corker.

They really should just make David Feloni the guy in charge of Star Wars.

They really should just make David Feloni the guy in charge of Star Wars. Yes! And primarily move Star Wars to TV as he does it so well in that medium. I am still recovering from the final season of Rebels. "Jedi Night" was the kind of gut punch that equals anything in any of the films, and all the moreso for the characters having been developed over four seasons. Rumour mill has it that some threads, or at least characters and concepts, will carry from Rebels into The Mandalorian season 2, which makes sense with all the Mandalorian stuff in that series (and Clone Wars before it). loved seeing the Darksaber show up briefly in the final episode

No give Feloni a chance on the big screen. Hes mastered the art of using TV shows to "fix" the movies. Lets see what he can do when hes not having to make Anakin a likable character with something like human emotion and motivations.

Episode 3 was also good. Great show and unlike most streaming fare feels like proper individual episodes. I hope it doesn't do a Picard and vanish up its own bum.

Is four the one with the scout walker? I quite liked that one. There was one episode I remember finding mildly disappointing, and it was somewhere around the middle of the season.

Yes. Felt like a script from many previous generic 'help a local village and move on' series. It lost my interest somewhat. Hopefully just a blip.

I enjoy stand alone episodes, something of an A-Team/Knightrider format. I've grown fed up of modern series relying on long full series length plots to maintain a viewer's commitment to tuning in for each new episode.

I like story arcs and ongoing subplots. What I don't like in the streaming era are shows where seasons have only one plot/story. It's what snookered Picard for me. A series can be mostly good but not sunk if it has some bad stories but not if the only story it tells is bad. That brings the whole series down.
As for Mandalorian ep 4. I liked that it was a standalone episodic tale. I just thought it was a bland one but no harm done if this is a show that has more than one story.

Episode 5 was pretty boring: far too obvious. I found myself checking my phone during it. The short length of the episodes is starting to hurt the show too.
