Overall I've really enjoyed this season.
If there's a theme to it I think it's something along the lines of power structures and their building / rebuilding (with an undercurrent that this is happening with the Empire), and there's some interesting contrasts and ideas to tease out between Navarro / Coruscant / Mandalore / Planet Jack Black & Lizzo.
Watching it through the lens of someone who has been reading a lot of classic Marvel Conan in the past year has also been interesting. Mando is not unlike Conan in the way he wanders from situation to situation as a gun for hire, though with a stronger moral core, and almost any time Conan encounters a power structure it gets shown up as flawed if not outright corrupt. I also strongly suspect that, like Conan, our title character is destined to be king, however reluctantly.
I'm still fully onboard!

It is a well worn device, but it still tickles me that in the exact same week both Star Wars and Star Trek ran with pretty much the exact same scene!

I thought the finale was ok. Did reasonably well at tying things off narratively and thematically. This season has been a bit hit and miss for me, for quite a few reasons. But I felt that was a pretty satisfying ending, and certainly I enjoyed it more than I did the ending to Season 2.
I still think overall I enjoyed the first season far more than anything that came after it, but even if the second and third didn't land quite as well for me, they didn't fumble the dismount.

I found that this season had an awful lot of filler. The main story arc could probably have been done in three episodes.

I have never really been too bothered about the "main story arc" in The Mandalorian - for me it existed more as an excuse to keep Lone Wolf and Cub on the road and having adventures than as anything I was invested in for its own self.
One of my favourite episodes of the season is one that I have seen a lot of folk dismiss as "filler". I refer of course to the buddy-cop story on Planet Clueless Rich Folk. I loved that episode - a good fun "done in one" adventure, with some additional stuff attached that adds on to an inter-episode arc. But it was a good fun, well-paced little story that stood nicely on its own and gave everyone involved something interesting to do. By contrast I thought last weeks "some folk stand around on a space zoom call scene" dull as ditchwater, but I am aware that it was very satisfying and interesting for a lot of people.
I think part of the reason I didn't get as much our of S2 and S3 is that that parts of the show I enjoyed the most weren't necessarily the same parts as the creative staff were most invested in. (And that is a "me" problem, not a "them" problem - it is there show and they should absolutely make it the way they want to make it.)

Well good news is... The set up for season 4 will be random jobs in the outer rim cleaning up remnants of the Empire. So hopefully a return to the expected format.
And was that Filoni I spotted as an extra in the bar?

Yes I believe it was. Spoiler Yup, it seems like Mandalorian has passed on the serialised story arc batton to Ashoka and will, at least for a while, return to random gunslinging.
Or not, we'll have to see where Ashoka leaves things I suppose.

The finale (the season as a whole, really) did feel like a concerted effort to tie off a lot of the Mandalorian stuff. I was surprised they destroyed the Dark Saber as part of it - symbolically it makes sense, but it was a cool visual that I'll miss!
Strong echoes of one of Timothy Zahn's EU Thrawn-centric novels here with the secret Imperial base, clones floating in tanks that get destroyed, etc.
I was hoping for more of a space battle, especially given that the Mandalorian ships and the Naboo N1 are some of Star Wars' best designs, but the jetpack stuff was good anyway.
Looking forward to see what they can do with the new status quo, presumably more done-in-one stories (that one a couple of episodes back remains a favourite of this run).
Hopefully there won't be such a big gap before the next season!

Do we have confirmation of a next season then? I haven't really been following any of the news that came out of Celebration - I know there was an Ahsoka trailer, and something about a (tv) movie of some sort. Did they make an announcement there or anything?

There’s no official announcement, just Favreau saying he’s already written scripts. So it’s not 100% sure, but still very likely.

Disney have announced so many SW movies and shows that never got made. I only believe it now when I see photos!
I wasn't massively keen on season 1 of 'Bo-Katan and The Mandalorians' but the finale was decent enough. I like the set-up at the end for potential future stories.

Definitely felt like family (franchise) responsibilities were carried out and now the status quo has been reestablished.
A shame they didn't go full romance with Mando and Bo-Katan. A few scenes where they stare mostly into each other's visors would have been entertaining.

Ah, fair enough - I'm not really following SW news these days so I wasn't sure. I might give a fourth season a go. It may depend on whether I still have Disney+ at the time. I'm hanging onto it until I get around to seeing Terminator: Dark Fate, finish the second season of The Gifted, and possibly Cloak and Dagger. (Tried Runaways, didn't really click with it unfortunately). I mean, there is Bluey but I can't justify keeping it just for Bluey once I've ticked the rest of the list. That said, whether or not they are planning a fourth season, that felt pretty much like closure. Our Bounty-Hunting drifter has found a community in which he can settle down and live comfortably. He has accepted Grogu as his own son, closing out the "I bear responsible for this unlooked-for child" thread. The evil lord who was pursuing the child for his own schemes has been confronted and slain. Our Bounty-Hunter has struck up a working relationship with a guy from the local Cavalry fort to help maintain law and order on the lawless frontier, further envincing him as having settled down and become part of society rather than apart from it... Honestly if they want to have an actual "ending", then those were pretty much the notes they would have wanted to hit anyway I think. So... yeah... I think the upshot is that I've got all the narrative closure I was ever going to want out of the series, so I'm not too concerned either way as to whether there is another season. Karl

Latest episode was great. Spoiler Very much doubt they would make CG Zeb if hes not going to have a decent role in Ashoka which effectively starts to sound like Rebels Season 4...5? but live action.
Very excited. I very much agree. If Zeb were just a one off cameo for fans, this appearance could have been done much more cheaply and been just as effective with a guy in a costume. I kept expecting Sabine to appear, after Zeb turned up to say "Hey, Rebels is a thing!" and the plot shifted to uniting all mandalorians.
