Definitely the weakest of the whole series in my opinion.
The episode lengths vary a lot, and I think the Mandalorrian does this well by using it to make shorter ones. Some Netflix series I find go the other way and unnecessarily bloat some episodes.

I'm not certain DVDs will happen for Disney+ shows.
Disney owns Hulu. Hulu never puts things on DVD. Even things shared between platforms (Siren is a Freeform series, but is also on Hulu) or have extremely high selling values, like Marvel shows like Runaways and Cloak & Dagger.

But you're in a different country and they may not play by the same rules. I see DVD collections for thibgs for you guys that never get released here (RiD comes to immediate mind. Think Ladybug may too?).
But even at that, I haven't heard of any hulu shows. And both DC Universe and CBS All Access has had stuff out that's newer than the earliest D+ stuff like Mandalorian and Diary of a Future President.

I don't consider myself a SW fan at all, and I loved it. I have *only* liked Clone Wars, Rebels, and now The Mandalorian.
...oh hey, these are all David Feloni's series!

Just bear in mind that S2 is dropping weekly, so wait a few months so you don't miss any episodes.

Thanks, I'll give it some thought. I might wait until s2 has finished, and if s1 isn't out on shiny disc by then, we'll see.
I do enjoy binge-watching shiny discs.

I don't like binge-watching and generally find that most shows that are designed be watched that way (ie all episodes 'drop' at once) are plain crap. Weekly shows are generally of much higher quality as the makers have to put more effort into making them work as individual chunks to make viewers come back next week.

I just like immersing myself in fiction for substantial time periods, whether reading a book or watching on screen. I don't like having to keep exiting the story for a week when I'm enjoying it and not ready to take a break from it. With a novel you can read as much as you like before breaking off at a place that suits you. Same with a 'box set'. The characters don't pause for a week between events, so why should I have to?
Generally, I find 45-minute episodes too short to satisfy my appetite.

I don't binge watch in the true sense because life's too short to spend hours and hours at a time in front of a TV, but I do tend to record a series and watch it start to finish an episode a day because it helps me to remember what's going on, so I watch series one at a time. An episode a week and generally by the time I get to the next one I've forgotten what was going on.

It's the same time investment whether you watch them one a day or all concentrated into a few days. The only difference is the number of times you switch back and forth between the fictional world and the real world during the story. Martin

Generally, I find 45-minute episodes too short to satisfy my appetite. Martin Well we're talking about different things here. A novel is generally available in one chunk: a reader can plough through at their own speed. A weekly TV show is a very different thing: it's a form of entertainment designed to be (initially) digested once a week. Many shows also are produced in such a way it is impossible to have it all made and available at once. There are, of course, TV shows made differently which are designed to 'drop' at the same time on streaming services. They are produced and designed to be watched all in one go or in a short period of time. These are three very different styles of storytelling. -Ralph

The only difference is the number of times you switch back and forth between the fictional world and the real world during the story. That only follows if you're watching a set amount of TV. While I may watch one thirteen part series over two or three weeks, someone else who binge watches regularly could watch six or seven times that amount in the same time but would have done little else. I just don't like spending all night watching the TV, I'd rather do it an hour at a time, and in fact in the working week that's all the time I get anyway so there isn't really a choice. Whether I eventually spend thirteen hours watching a series over two or three weeks instead of two days isn't the point, the point is that I prefer to do other things within that three weeks as well as watching TV.

Yeah, but even the ones that I know are designed to be released one episode a week give me more satisfaction when I hold off and watch them for the first time in a box-set binge over a single week rather than spaced out with week-long gaps between episodes.

Regarding this and a previous episode from S01. {Spoiler}They can try all they want to paint Sand People in a different light, as Native Americans I guess... But let's not forget that it was the Sand People who kidnapped Shmi Skywalker, tortured her and ultiamtely led to her death and the turning of Anakin to the dark side, so let's not give them too much sympathy.

I totally failed to recognise Temuera Morrison at the end! I guessed who the character was, there was pretty much only one choice that made sense, but I'm annoyed with myself for not realising they used the right actor...
I'm quite happy to see Boba Fett back, I always felt his more comedic showing and demise in ROTJ didn't fit well, so it'll be great to see him back to being a threat. Contrast that with Palpatine being back in ROS, which absolutely did not need to happen as his story came to an appropriate and satisfying conclusion in ROTJ.
I guess this episode of The Mandalorian generally played off of some of the (arguably) weak points of ROTJ, also with the moments after the second Death Star being destroyed not being an automatic party for everyone who the Empire had been subjugating.
