For a show with a slow pace where nothing much really happens, a lot certainly happens.
Good (re)use of sound effects this week, although feel S02E02 was kinda filler, with a few key bits of interaction thrown in.

Hugely enjoyable filler though! And it looks amazing. When they said that s2 would be more of a continuing narrative I was afraid they'd be losing how nicely old-fashioned and episodic s1 was. I find modern TV series' insistence that every episode be part of a big arc and they have to "matter" exhausting. I'm glad the team behind this seem to like episodes to be entertaining units in themselves. Loved that, even though they helped save the day, the X-Wing pilots were still very much The Cops |

Yes, loved that! Great incidental music this episode. And nice to see even fairly minor characters transition from the animated series into live action

Well the filler is over.
A shame the music is so pedestrian. I was watching the action scenes this week just longing for a John Williams score to, well, not so much pep it up, but not drag it down if you get my meaning.

Hrmmm. Further thoughts, not sure I want this series to suffer from Picard syndrome... Token appearances of key characters from the Star Wars universe seemingly just for the sake of it. I was wracking my brain as to who the guest stars were. Michael Biehn and Rosario Dawson... Although I'm sure I knew Dawson was gonna make an appearance, I think she was in Kevin Smith / Jason Mewes vlog recently where they discussed it. Remind me how long after Battle For Endor this is? |

I thought it was five, but I'm not sure why!
Loved this episode, wonderfully atmospheric and well produced even without the guest appearance and ongoing plot mechanics (and picking up of threads from Rebels). It continues to be one of the great selling points of the show for me that they make the individual episodes entertaining in themselves.
I don't think they'll make quite the hash of things that Picard did (IMO), largely because I think the creative team behind this fits, and understands, the source material better. And are better at telling a satisfying story.

A Yaddle relation I may be able to tolerate, but given her position on the Jedi high council for a time, I can't imagine her going against the code and ever having offspring... Unless this is what caused her to step down. |

I never even considered a Yoda connection! How dense am I?!?
But him being Yoda's secret lovechild shame would kind of fit the tone of the series, and also the hints in the prequels that the Jedi weren't the whiter-than-white types they were supposed to be. I think I could roll with that.

*brain implodes* So Ashoka's concerns seem well founded given the episode conclusion. Gives the series a good retcon reason why the Jedi were keeping the child under wraps and possibly how Anakin couldn't sense him during the purge of the temple if he has a dark side tendency.
I feel sorry for everyone who ponied up the cash for the Razorcrest.
And the return of Boba! They teased us earlier in the series with his armour, and then when the Slave 1 appeared I just assumed it was a reuse of the ship type and dismissed thinking no way they'd do it now. Best of all, looks like he's sticking around. Although his armour doesn't fit too well.
And ohhhhh sheeeeez, Dark Troopers. Dark Forces holds a special place in my heart and to see them finally on screen. Yessssss |

Great stuff, excited for the future! And there's enough going on to leave things open for further Mandalorian episodes if they choose. Like Rogue One gave me the Vader I was hoping for in E3, hopefully this will appease the E8 complainers saying they wanted more from Luke.
Shame about the CGI, but I'm glad they went for it. Was worried we'd just get a hooded figure.

Im assuming the de-aging was only feasible thanks to the bit they did in TLJ and ROS cutting down on the prep work.
Curious where they go with Mando now.
Also leads to questions about where baby yoda is by the time Ben goes on his temple rampage.
