Although it gives me no pleasure, I LOOK at Shockprowl to see whether he might be able to reach the camera where Lister could not.

SHOCKPROWL attempts to climb KRYTEN and LISTER who is balanced atop KRYTEN's shoulders.
SHOCKPROWL Agility (6) skill check difficulty 25, for climbing. RAND20 = 17 + RALLY 2, 19 + 6 >= 25, Success!
KRYTEN Strength (8) skill check difficulty 27, for holding LISTER and SHOCKPROWL. RAND20 = 13, 13 + 8 < 27, Failure!
RALLY reset on CAT, RIMMER skill checks.
The group falls into a dangerous looking heap.
KRYTEN RAND5 for danger, failure on 1. RAND5 = 2, safe!
LISTER RAND5 for danger, failure on 1. RAND5 = 4, safe!
SHOCKPROWL RAND5 for danger, failure on 1. RAND5 = 2, safe!

Any room puzzle is designed so that it can be solved by a various combination of characters and abilities so you're never dependent on a single course of action should your team party change, players drop in/out etc.

RIMMER walks to the door and leans forward through it.
RIMMER used PHASE on the DOOR.
PHASE is in cooldown.
RIMMER leans back in. "Welll, things are looking up."
LISTER looks skeptical. "What was it man?"
"Well I imagine you're all looking forward to being out of this secure room and somewhere a bit more hospitable? If by hospitable you mean more of the same, but more like a corridor then you are in luck."
"Anything else?" LISTER asks.
"There's a BUTTON to the side of the door, but the control panel looks dead. There's also a DESK with some kind of diagram on a piece of PAPER on it. I'll explain it as best I can." Rimmer explains a mix of numbers, symbols and colours.

Kryten internally stares at an ohm's law calculator for ten minutes and returns to the conversation none the wiser.
However, he considers if he is clever enough to work out what to do with the wiring he should be able to roll an intelligence check to see if he can figure out which wire combination will restore power to the door.

"Apologies sirs... I shall have to go into deep thought mode to try to figure this out. Engaging deep thought mode, deep thought mode engaged."
KRYTEN's body goes stiff, his lack of movement making him feel like a creepy effigy of himself. Looking deep within, he triggers an existential crisis as he trys to figure out the mysteries of the electronics that run not only the door system, but his own being.
KRYTEN Intelligence (12) skill check difficulty 34, for figuring out electronics. RAND20 = 5, 12 + 5 < 34, Failure!
KRYTEN RAND5 for danger, failure on 1. RAND5 = 1, failure!
KRYTEN RAND5 for frying of circuits. RAND5 = 4, Stamina = 12-4 = 8

(I figured as much).
SAY "Apologies for the smell of crispy fried android, sirs, but it would appear my knowledge of electrics isn't what it should be. We know volts x amps = watts, and so therefore watts/volts = amps, which suggests the red wire and the white wire are related in some way. Checking my databases, ohms are what Buddhists chant about when seeking to live lives free of worldly concerns, so I suggest chanting may help us to alleviate any stresses and concerns we have about the current situation."
SIT upon the floor and chant.

We know volts x amps = watts, and so therefore watts/volts = amps [Also volts = amps x ohms, and so watts = amps squared x ohms.] Martin

Damn, I was worried this was gonna be too easy.
Also, if you want to get technical the SPST switches _/_ should probably be Reed relay based switches which actually may have more impedence, but whatever, the symbol is too hard to do in ascii.

[Also volts = amps x ohms, and so watts = amps squared x ohms. (ok, but what gets fed into what? I've no idea and I can't work it out from webpages. If the red wire is 50 watts/5 volts, 50/5 = 10 amps, which is the white wire, but does that mean they should be connected together? Why would you twist together wires of different colours? You don't do that when wiring plugs. I don't understand electrics, let alone how to apply it to this puzzle. Unless there's something else we need in any of the POI we haven't looked at)

It's been a mental week. Didn't stop work breakfast to bedtime mon-fri and am still picking up the pieces. I'll have a think about this. I haven't yet been able to match the ascii circuit diagram symbols to the real thing bar the green and black ones looking like switches. My Key Stage 2 Science teaching doesn't go beyond that!

Purple + Grey are resistors, White is a circuit breaker reset.

50W/5V30W/5V_/ _ 5Ω_/ _ 2Ω-〰- 4Ω-〰- 10Ω_ ︵ _ 10A [out of character]OK, so the purple wire is a 4-Ohm resistor and the grey wire is a 10-Ohm resistor, and they are attached to the wall behind the camera and detachable at both ends. One of them is plugged into the camera, the other is hanging loose and cannot be reattached to the camera because the camera's socket is damaged. And it may be for the best that the camera is dead. So let's unplug both those wires and forget the camera. Then we'll have two resistors to use with the other five wires hanging loose from the hole in the wall that the ship crashed through.
So we'll have a 4-Ohm resistor and a 10-Ohm resistor. And the black wire is a switch with resistance 2 Ohms, while the green is a switch with resistance 5-Ohms. The ratio 4-to-10 is the same as the ratio 2-to-5, so that may have some significance. Or not.
What is the aim? To trigger the circuit breaker reset?
What is the question we're trying to answer here?[/out of character]
