Pipes on the side are in 3 bits: top of the trailer, bottom of the trailer(below the spoiler fin) and on the car. The ones on the lower half of the trailer are hinged at the top, you can see a pin going through them. Do they fold down as support legs for the trailer halves? Then we have the back of the trailer. We know that folds down for the base mode: We think Rodimus is wider than Op. We think the cannon is removable. We think the ramp goes lower. Can you drive Autobot cars into Rodimus's trailer in vehicle mode?

I will unsurprisingly echo everyone else here in saying that this looks nice enough, and the trailer certainly looks better than Optimus', but this seems to do nothing to justify it being an £80 toy. In fairness, there's probably the same amount of plastic here as there was in Jetfire, so he's at least in line with that. But Sky Lynx really raised the bar for what a Commander class toy could do, and this does not reach it.

The rumour mill has it that Titans are gone as of next year, and they'll be two Commanders.
Anyone else see all singing all dancing robust Optimus Prime & Ultra Magnus with bucket loads of weapons coming as Commanders?

It looks *fine* but not especially inspiring. For that price and how simple the trailer is, I'd want to see some sort of INSANE gimmick inside it

The only things I've heard about in the rumor mill that's unseen in this reveal are ten blast effects (I'm really tired of this. Waste of plastic and waste of proper accessories in this case), and the matrix. No more weapons.

If Adam at 16Bit.com says it's happening then it probably is given his day job at EE.

There's nothing in that quote that contradicts what I said. Nothing about it indicates that he's talking about some gun other than the one we've seen.

I don't get why the stand alone vehicle has to have so much red plastic on the backend. It's not used in robot mode other than as on the back. Would be much better to slim the vehicle down so it could slot deeper into the trailer.

The running belief is that the top of the car's rear can actually move forward, which will allow the car to slide deeper into the trailer, and would cover more of the car's canopy which would make it more rodimus accurate. It looks like it can do this.
So a lot of people are hopeful this is mistransformed.

I really quite like it! The robot does a great job of looking like a battle-hardened, more mature version of the SS86 figure. I still think there should at least be more paint on the wheels - if it's going to be priced like that, they could at least have used the budget on the details.

As Old Man Rodimus from Aspects of Evil or the end of ReGen1 (and the Sword of Primus makes me think that might be the intent) he's actually pretty good. Not £80 good, but...
Shame. As a leader, I'd probably have taken a punt.
Here's a thought though. Does he have the standalone car mode so he can be sold as a stripped down Netflix release later down the line?

I wondered that. Assuming Boga's photoshop scale is correct, he'd end up being sold as a leader with some extras. It's not out of the question, but I do feel it's a bit unlikely.
But I can't think of any repaints that wouldn't be better served with the SS86 Hotrod mold. An SG Rodimus could be paired with another SG character (blurr, starscream, cyclonus, jazz) far more easily with that, than with even a stripped down Kingdom Rodimus.

For goodness sakes.
Overall, I actually like the look of this figure. It's the Rodimus update I've wanted. If it was at leader price-point I'd be very happy. I just can't see how it's an £80 toy at all. Also, at that price, I would expect all-new blast effects.
One for a sale, methinks.

I'm starting to think hasbro has been going overboard with the pointless blast effects stuff, to give them the ability to scale back the actual toy, and pad it out up to the pricepoint, all in turn to give them something to drop later on, instead of raising the pricepoint.
Does that make sense? I'm not sure if I expressed myself well.

I didn't give a toss about blast effects until I got some then I thought they weren't too bad. I found, however, that they got in the way of playing with the figures and I tended to lose them easily and/or forget which effect goes with which toy. I have no idea where they are now.

You can swap the blast effects between toys, they don't have to stay with the one they came with!

When really they're just tat.

Blast effects aren't for play, they're for display. And that's a failing where toys are concerned.
But are the collector's lines toys? Are they meant for play? Or display with the occasional fiddle? (Or for most people put in a box in the loft whilst questioning our life choices.)
