Wait - Rodimus Prime's (rumoured to be) in Generations, and not Studio Series. Okay, that's fine, that makes sense. I mean, Galvatron's also in Generations and not Studio Series, so it fits. But also neither of those things make any sense.
Also, *Commander* class? I mean, if they want him to have a decent-sized trailer then Commander is probably the going price point at the moment, given how insubstantial the Leaders are. But that said, he's not really known for his trailer in the Cartoon, is he? So what are they going to pack in that'll justify him being the same price point as Jetfire and Sky Lynx? I'd wonder if it's going to be another Hot Rod to Rodimus job, so it'll come with lots of add-ons, but aside from the fact they just did that in PottoP, it's not very Sunbow either, so it seems unlikely...

Better uses of Commander Class (in my opinion)- Magnaboss Tripredacus Optimal Optimus Tankor Depth Charge (for those amazing wings) Rampage TM2/BM Megatron Tigerhawk Torca (if anyone deserves to jump several pricepoint classes, it's the dude who's an african elephant/killer whale hybrid)
We'll never get a shot at any of these in this pricepoint ever again. But we'll be getting another Rodimus Prime down the line.

Perhaps when you open the trailer a mini Stan Bush figure jumps out and sings "You got the touch"

So there must be a trailer not being shown. Right?
Or else that Rodimus is over a foot tall.

Yeah, this'll just be the Hot Rod part of it that can be plugged into the trailer. Begs the question of whether the trailer somehow augments the robot mode as well as the vehicle, though I'd be happy with it turning into some form of base.
At first glance it doesn't look bad! Unpainted rims does make it look a bit cheap at this price point though, especially as most if not all other cars in the line will have them painted. Could just be a photo of an early model without all paint apps, etc.

There is apparently a very good trailer packed with goodies
Reveal next Weds apparently
EDIT
D'Oh! I was making assumptions based on when the photo leaks usually show from TT vs when they put they're new products up..... I did not notice the 10 3 on the picture!

I'm really curious as to what this is going to do that will make it £30 more than ER Prime.
I know its Kingdom but assuming they are paying attention to scale as they are in SS86 then that robot isnt going to be much bigger than ER Prime and the trailer if anything should be smaller than ER Primes. How many goodies need stashing in the trailer to justify £30.
I have a horrible feeling hes just going to be needlessly huge.

Given this is just an overpriced version of SS86 Hotrod, and the fourth sunbow hotrod in a row... ...why? Why this? Why not give us the self contained Rodimus Prime people have begged for, for years? And bumped Ultra Magnus up to Commander, so they could do him properly?

Come on everybody - what's in the trailer prediction time!
A Matrix? Huge cannon? Another Transformer character? Will the trailer combine with Rodimus to make Fire Engine Rodimus? Will it have a big new Beast mode so he can play with the Maximals? Motorized features? Big base mode? Human figures? Micromaster Hot Rodimus? Deaths Head and a bounty? Chocolate Bounty? Rod Pod spaceship?
I'm struggling to think of anything accessory-wise that is actually Rodimus related. Especially Sunbow.

That's weird isn't it. So this new Hot Rod is a slight remould of the one about to come out - the chest/bonnet is different, presumably something to do with the way he becomes Rodimus, and it looks a bit shorter at the back.
I'm surprised they're doing that again given we had the Evolution one a couple of years ago, but then we know from Shockwave and Astrotrain that there's a thing at the moment for giving voyager size figures a super mode by sticking a few bits on it and calling it a Leader. If you think about what came with Astrotrain, basically that tender, and that shoved him from Voyager to Leader price, it wouldn't take an awful lot more to push a Voyager up to Commander, but as said, it would need a much, much better trailer than the shell ER Prime has.
Well this is good. The colours on the new one are much nicer. No need to buy SS86 Hot Rod now!

However, all that said, compared to Jetfire and Sky Lynx, no matter how you dress up what is basically a large deluxe, it's going to feel cheap and underwhelming in comparison.

Come on everybody - what's in the trailer prediction time! A function so that you can put Hot Rod into it, close it and reopen it with him as Rodimus because it presses the extension parts on.

Isn't it? It looks exactly the same as SS86 except for the chest. Every piece is moulded the same. Is it an upscale then? But wait - that figure isn't Rodimus, it's Hot Rod. Why would it be ER Prime size? That doesn't make sense.

Fitting that The Great Traitor should cause such turmoil.
I shall watch with amusement as you sickened Rodimus lovers agonise over this over-priced gargoyle! AAAAHAHAHAHA!

It's Rodimus Prime, not Hotrod. And according to All Holy Sunbow, the two are equal sized. It has a "trailer" that isn't shown here, and can convert into Rodimus's "truck" mode.
It looks like it shares some engineering, but not all. Mostly in how the arms turn around, and the bits fold out to cover the shoulders. It doesn't seem to share any parts, as there are no matching surface details. Nothing in the legs match. The upper arms don't match. The feet don't match. The forearms don't match. The head doesn't match.

Rodimus being a Hot Rod car pulling a trailer makes you wonder what Rodimus actually is compared to Hot Rod. When the Matrix chose him did it just magic him a trailer out of nowhere to tow? No, because he is bigger. Should the trailer be part of the robot? It's not really a trailer though is it? - its just part of his vehicle mode. Rodimus was never really depicted as a car pulling a trailer like Optimus' cab was apart from a couple of seconds of cheap animation. It's all something that confuses me.

I think the intent is that Rodimus is a futuristic hotrod shaped Semi-Truck. A hotrod version of Optimus Prime's vehicle.
The end result looks more like a tricked out RV, than a cab pulling a trailer. But I'm sure the animation intent was that either the trailer was to vanish like Optimus, or it was actually part of him all along, like Ironhide (cartoon). Hasbro did the best they could at the time, with an Ironhide (toy) solution.
My personal preference is a fully intigrated Rodimus, like the titanium. And I know I'm not alone. The PotP HotRodimus isn't my favorite toy, but it does a really good job of combining Hotrod and Rodimus Prime. We don't need another go at that, we need a proper go at Rodimus alone.
