I believe I said at the beginning of the Minicons I was only doing the original versions of the teams so we had voted on the individual moulds at least once Two weeks off now before the Minicon Marathon begins! We'll start Bank Holiday Monday with a matter not covered by the main Minicon poll. THAT poll will have the 11 original Armada Minicon teams up against each other. Then on a week by week basis we'll vote on which member is best on each team - 11 weeks worth. And then we'll move onto the pack in Minicons. By the end of that we'll have voted on each Armada Minicon mould

Terradive doesn't impress me much in terms of looks Terradive's always been the one that impressed me most ever since I saw the grey scale prototype Still love it today. Would LOVE an upscaled version that shows off all that detail Plus he turns into an SR71 Blackbird!

Terradive is a nice-looking design, but I find he feels disturbingly fragile in-hand.
Gunbarrel wins for me. Nice in all modes, feels very solid and characterful.

Unfortunately, for me, anyway, it doesn't translate into the plastic. I've got the Shockwave version of the mold, and it just doesn't impress at all, being a little fiddly and not pushing together properly. Maybe because the mold was getting tired by that point...

The legs fall off every version of the Gun Barrel mould that I own! Likewise, except past tense. I've had that issue with both of that mold I've had, as well as the fact that the loose hip joint makes him prone to toppling one way or the other without warning. No, for me this one is easy - Terradive is a gorgeous little toy. Love the humanoid mode, it has a visually interesting outline. Gorgeous and exotic aircraft mode. Top that off with a lovely looking weapon mode. (I gather that this team was intended to lean towards being melee weapons, so I presume that Terradive is supposed to be some sort of claw-type weapon - like Nekode or Bagh Nakh. But I can't get the idea out of my head that they turn into some sort of charged particle beam or gauss weapon. It is the shape of the business end which almost feels like some sort of magnetic accelerator thingumy). Karl

A pretty decent bunch these, all of them look not bad. Firebot is very tempting as a pick - he's very fetching in that smart red and he looks wonderfully blocky and tactile. However, Makeshift has to win for me, just because he has the most interesting of all the looks.

Makeshift. I love his propeller fingers! It's a shame you can't do propeller fingers with movie Incinerator who's a similar sort of aircraft tfwiki.net/wiki/Incinerator_(Movie)

But Incinerator is from Bayverse...

Definitely Makeshift from this set, a very handsome toy, but when it comes to the repaints I could see myself going either way with the other two moulds. They're all good.
Of the sets I own, I'd probably go with Prowl from the X-Dimension version, and Anti-Blaze (great name) from the Cybertron two-packs.

I love Anti-Blaze as it does the amazing job of convincing me the vehicle isn't a fire truck but a SWAT Armoured vehicle with a water cannon

yeah, Makeshift. This is another team I had but I don't remember the third modes at all. the others are ok but Makeshift is the only one I'd keep if they came my way again.

I love the fact that Firebot can see almost nothing but he doesn't care because he's got GREAT BIG missile launchers on his shoulders. Why would he be entirely reliant on a single pair of optics. How do you know he doesn't have camera booms on his shoulders, or a radar system that can see 100 degrees ahead of him for missile guidance... I know that everyone will be expecting me to vote for Makeshift. After all, he's the first of only a handful of tilt-rotors in Transformers to this day, and the only flying member of the team, and I'm me... Now I do like Makeshift, he's a fun little toy - the rotors folding up to make either three-tined claw hands, or triple-barrel rotary guns (he makes an amazing turret for MD Shockwave). But that is to forget the other influences on me. Firebot has a fun little vehicle mode, but it is the other two modes that really seal it. The humanoid mode is hefty, chonky and square - it evokes the early Destroid of Macross, that became some of the original iconic Battletech mechs, crossed with the Tread from Mospeada. There is a real projection of character from this mode - he seems solid, dependable and capable. The sort of 'bot who just tells you "I've got this", and you know whatever it is will be taken care of. And his weapon mode is superb. Its a straightforward box of missiles, an Itano Circus waiting to happen, that clips neatly onto the arm hardpoints of so many Armada/MD toys and gives them a very "loaded for mecha-bear" appearance. Two of these on Starscream (normal or Supermode) look absolutely marvelous, likewise they go really well with Megatron/Galvatron... Yeah, Firebot is one of my favourite mini-cons of this team, and a candidate for S-tier in general. Karl
