1/12/22 Went for a run after work. Unfortunately, there was a static build-up in my shorts which meant I was constantly getting electric shocks to my gnads. Made it difficult to maintain a steady pace.

It was one degree when I headed out on today's run. I presume it dropped below zero as on the turnaround what had been puddles passed on the way out were now ice rinks.
Unusually, no other runners about. Cowards!
*checks*
Oh, apparently it is minus five out there.

Oooh a fitness thread. What are your goals?
Have you switched up diet to match?

I started running the same week I started a new homeworking job in September 2021 and try to do three 5-mile runs a week. It was initially out of a concern I would gain weight working from home. Well, I have gained weight anyway (less exercise overall than before and bad eating habits from lockdown times) but running does wonders for my mental health so I have kept it up.

I miss running, hoping I can start again in January if the head issues are resolved.

Well you can't out train a bad diet as they say, but it sounds like the other benefits of exercise may be more beneficial anyway.
Finding it difficult to get motivated myself. Injured my elbows back in October and now they're feeling better this cold snap is really giving me an excuse not to go into the conservatory of solitude where my equipment is.

Really feeling the extra weight during current runs. Still, an 18-month plan begins in January to sort that.

Had been tempted to go, but outside was like a skating rink so not safe to go out and pound the pavement.

Did my second today - similar to Wednesday, but I did go a bit harder at the start. No ill effects and cardio felt a wee bit stronger.
Back to three times a week next week.

2023 Run #3: that was a tough one. Temporarily relocated so not on my usual routes but in a much more built-up area so a lot of stop-starts and watching out for cars.
Some electric shocks to the balls around mile 3.
