2023 Run #3: that was a tough one. Temporarily relocated so not on my usual routes but in a much more built-up area so a lot of stop-starts and watching out for cars. Some electric shocks to the balls around mile 3. -Ralph What in gods name is your underwear made from?

It seems to be the black pants which cause the problem.

Run #4 for 2023 called off this evening due to torrential rain. I go out in drizzle/light rain but not that. In other news, to keep me on target to get some way towards my pre-pandemic fitness and to raise pennies for Cancer Research UK I have signed up for the Manchester half-marathon on 15/10/23 and ponied up the entrance fee. Just Giving page: fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/ralphs-giving-page-17101It's also linked to a Facebook Fundraiser Page though I have no idea how to share that. Eek. -Ralph

Run 3 for 2023 completed, a wee bit stiff after the Sunday am walk home, but still did it.

With pennies already in the can there is no backing out. 10 months to fear The Sweeper Bus. -Ralph

I doubt you will have much to fear from the sweeepr bus. Plenty of time to get in shape.

FFS. I never come back from a run with Armada toys!!!
Run #4 remains postponed. Proper dangerous levels of rain: not just a wee drizzle. Hopefully tomorrow.

I've been out injured since pulling my achilles tendon just before TFN. It healed shortly afterward but I pulled it again 2 months later after just starting running again. I've left a bigger gap this time and I'm back out. Done 3 5k's so far this year and starting to get my fitness back. 31 mins for the last one which isn't too bad but a way off my PB.
I would like to build up to 10k but find it hard to pace myself. Tend to automatically tend towards a fast pace early on no matter how hard I try to slow down.

Given my very first time I met Nick was on a train station platform and I came away with Megabolt Megatron, it does not surprise me you can bump into him mid-run and come away with Armada toys. I assume now he just wanders the streets with bags of gear (or Gears).

2023 #4: went a different way on a better route with less crossings to worry about but alas arses on bikes on the pavement. It is a vehicle. Get it on the fucking road.
A round 6 miles today.

2023 - RUN 4
5k again - cardio improved, a bit more power in the legs, absolutely loved the pissing rain and wind so I did. No idea of times but didn't feel too slow.

I have that problem as well, I tend to gravitate towards my top end. I do run with a friend (albeit by phone) so we chat to each other and find that helps me regulate the pace a bit better, but if he's unavailable and I run on my own, I tend to go faster.

1st October I will be doing the Loch Ness Marathon.
Plenty of time to get into condition, and force some good behaviours in terms of food and drink.

I will fuck him up if I see him.
Just working out a training program tonight, obvs TFN will be a slight wrinkle because even though I will be behaving it's probably a week out during a bit where I woud be ramping up to 35k runs. Ah well, sure I will sort something.

Run 5
Full 5k (and a wee bit) no walking, a few enforced traffic stops but I went right back to running.

5k takes me about an hour. My speed is set more to bimble than fast.
EDIT: 5 miles. I do 5 miles in an hour.

Suspect my 5k's have been in the 30-35 minute range, but will be properly tracking as of tomorrow.

2023 Run #5: did 7 miles. Pushed it as a bit as have cold weather/ice warnings here so may be treacherous for a few days.
Can anyone recommend a good running app? I've just been using the phone's health tracker but could do with a more specific progress tracker.
