After doing my first 10k in Feb and then running 5k in 28 mins a few weeks later has actually killed my motivation to keep it up. It feels like I've completed running. I've just come off a 6 week period where I only did one run, but I managed to get out on Sunday (5k, 31 mins) and planning get back in the groove.

And well done on the 20k Andy - that's very impressive! Are you working up to a full marathon? Ever ran one before?

And well done on the 20k Andy - that's very impressive! Are you working up to a full marathon? Ever ran one before? Yes, Loch ness in October so plenty of time to get there. Did Stirling in 2018, awful took me 5 hours as I didn't get the training right and hit a wall partway through.

I have no personal interest in times or going at a certain speed when running. I run mostly because it is good for mental health and is helpful exercise now that I have a significantly more sedentary lifestyle from working at home.
After many years when a physical problem meant I couldn't, I have managed at least one run every week since the start of September 2021. It's become an embedded habit. Mostly 5-mile runs.

I do like to look at my times and speed on these runs, purely because I am working up to the larger race distance, plus it's a good measure of how I feel my strength and conditioning is. However, been doing this long enough to know, there are days you will go out and it will be a slog to do no matter how much training and practice you have done.

Much more important to get out often as my ultimate goal is to improve my health and loose weight.

2023 Run #32. About 5.6 miles.
I was betrayed by the music service shuffle feature. It lulled me into a false sense of security by kicking off with John Barry (good) then went into screaming Opera bollocks.

2023 Run #33. About 5.42 miles.
Today was a struggle. Every step was a chore.
On my back a neighbour asked me if I could help train them to get into running. Um, ok.

I expect it would be a struggle if your neighbour was on your back. Did you charge him?

Vary the lengths of your run, if you aren't training for something, do the odd smaller one and maybe try to do it as quickly as possible. Change your routes up as well.

2023 Run #35. About 7.02 miles in a different direction. Got lost at one point and may have accidentally discovered a dogging hotspot and had to escape over a railway.

I ran to a local town and decided to come back via a canal. After a while I realised that would mean going through the Tunnel of Doom (no lighting). I thought I would use a crossing across the canal to cut through a village but I took a wrong turn.
I ended up down dark wooded areas with no houses or dog walkers but cars parked in unusual locations. I went to turn back but another car had just 'parked' and the lights were on. I knew I must be in a dogging hotspot so legged it until I found some very step stairs to go over a railway line. I did not want involuntary spunk attacks.

Local police radio reports are coming in concerning a sweaty, hot, middle aged man running back and forth through a dogging area when new cars appear.
Subject appears to match suspect escorted from Santa's grotto, Smyths and local parks.
