Anyway, I can't believe I've not posted about this, but I am, of course, very excited by these. The only thing that might be a touch weird is that the head is going to remain flat whilst also being articulated. I know that that is accurate to the original toy and indeed his depiction in the One True Canon, but I can't help but worrying it might look a bit odd in the plastic...

You did say you needed a new car .... Sadly old Beetles are very expensive to maintain. (I have indeed looked into this...)

Looks good.
The only thing that'd improve it, is if the front wheels slid up towards the elbow slightly to make the hands stand out more.

Far too expensive for what they are. I'm out.

30 quid a pop, about what people expected. i am sure the usual sites will have them up for pre-order soon.

Definitely more than I hoped. I guess variant joy probably won't happen in my house but they do look great so will probably get these two.

I guess it depends how much the UK shops have to pay and whether they buy direct from Tak. I was assuming they don't but maybe they do? How much was Optimus in Japanese shops?

I sort of wish Bumblebee had that circuitry stripe across his chest, like the original box art.

Cost me about £150 for both toy and cartoon Optimus from Amazon JP. The 2 minibots come to about £80 with shipping, but that depends on what the exchange rate with the Yen is like in Nov/Dec when they're released. UK shops would buy from Hasbro Asia. Takara Tomy isn't allowed to sell TF product outside of Japan.

Ooh yeah, these are looking good. Pricey, but Bumblebee especially is evoking far too many memories of early Marvel UK and Ladybird books to pass up. Even at that price…

I genuinely don't see why these should cost over $20

The value proposition does indeed seem low on these. I just can't justify £30+ on a minibot.
