Which bits are the problem? Looks pretty decent to me, a non animated fan

The head is really lousy at blending the aesthetics. The polar opposite of Prowl It'd be a tad better if the mouth wasn't off center. The upper arms have something kinda gnarly going on. Almost Core Sludge level bad. I agree, it's an okay Bumblebee (but we've had better), but not a terribly good TFA Bee. But then, Bumblebee is an afterthought. This mold matches up perfectly to this guy:

The legs and feet are wholly wrong, and I'd argue the porportions of the whole are off. Even by Legacy terms, it's way too boxy.

Yeah, my first thoughts were that I’m more excited about seeing what this mold is going to be repurposed as. Because this… well it’s not terrible. But I don’t think I can say more than “it exists”.
The problem with un-Animateding these characters is that originally they were basically stylised G1 guys. So you remove that stylisation and you’re left with… a standard G1 character. Which is what we have here. Nothing terrible, but nothing thrilling or missing from anyone’s collections.
Where this might work is if they do this to, say, Animated Megatron, as that helicopter form has never had a G1 analog. So that might be interesting to see. But we’re going to have Prime first. And in terms of G1-styled Primes with truck modes, there’s been a couple…

I concur with Llama's thoughts. I was holding off on buying Prowl until we saw some more of these, but that's a bland figure and the arms are are shocking. I can't see why I'd want to put this, Prowl and a Prime on a shelf when the originals are so much better. The only use these would have is if you're really into the multiverse idea and you wanted to play a crossover between universes but have all the figures use a similar aesthetic. Which I guess is what Generations is doing at the moment. I can see that as an idea on paper but the reality is it just gives you slightly worse versions of what were great toys.
I do get this this might be working for some people though. I feel exactly as above about the BW figures, but the opposite when it comes to Armada. I'm really keen on getting more of those, which totally goes against the point I'm making. I guess somewhere someone will be excited.

As frequently happens our US correspondent and I see this one very differently! The head is really lousy at blending the aesthetics. The polar opposite of Prowl It'd be a tad better if the mouth wasn't off center. The mouth is directly inherited from the animated deluxe. For me the head's the bit of the toy which is really screaming ANIMATED to me The upper arms have something kinda gnarly going on. Almost Core Sludge level bad. Again I can see the animated style quite clearly here. I agree, it's an okay Bumblebee (but we've had better), but not a terribly good TFA Bee. But then, Bumblebee is an afterthought. This mold matches up perfectly to this guy: Not sure I see it but side by side comprison However this is one of the few things we can be reasonably sure he won't be turned into: Bumblebee and Chase are in the same case!

I don't like that Bumblebee. It's too far removed from Animated.
Annoyingly, I have Bulkhead (which I like) and Prowl (which is okay) which makes me want Bumblebee to go with them. But it can wait until I see him cheap.
I agree that this aesthetic would work with Megatron, as well as other Animated-originated designs such as Lugnut and Sentinel Prime. Maybe Blitzwing. I'm already awaiting Trashmaster repurposed as Wreck-Gar.

The arms look better in the second set of photos. They must be mistransformed in the first ones. I was wondering if that was the case.

Eeeeeh. Not sure I get the line of thinking that leads to destylising everything apart from the face. Looks very odd in robot mode.
Zero interest in Windblade, very hard to imagine it will be in any way better than the RID or Legends (from the TR mould) toys.

I can see a variety of ports on Windblade for tooling her up. But apart from that it's going to be hard to beat TR/Legends or RiD2015

Never did pick up a TR Windblade. You and most of the rest of the world. In the Unobtainium wave with Twin Twist & Misfire. Was much easier to get the Legends version.

Having seen both the TR and RiD Windblade... I can imagine the Legacy one might be an improvement on the disapppointing TR one, but I have a hard time envisaging how it could be better than the RiD one. Might be tempted to pick her up anyway. I like most things about Windblade's aesthetic bar her Kabuki make-up, and there's only really been one good toy of her. If nothing else, I can give a new one a different set of weapons, and have them doing an "Annual crossover movie" thing with "both Reds back-to-back" kind of pose.
The Animated Bumblebee is very odd. They got close to the aesthetic in the vehicle mode, the humanoid head is...they were trying, but somehow they missed by a wide margin. The rest of the humanoid mode is absolutely terrible. Doesn't fit the animated aesthetic at all. Whereas the Prowl was a miss but in the right general direction, and the Bulkhead looked like "we meant to do Movie Hound and then changed the head", the Bumblebee looks entirely wrong.
Not a lot of point in doing an Animated Bumblebee if they entirely miss the characters distinctive aesthetics really.

Funnily enough, I've got the Legends Windblade but the TR Twin Twist and Misfire. So they happened somewhere around here. Think Twin Twist might have been a gift though.
Windblade has very clompy legs though, that don't quite fit the smallness of the rest of her body, so I can see an improvement being made there. And as long as that makes her more stable than the original, that should be an improvement.

I seem to have Legends Misfire (which would have been for the targetmaster) and TR Twin Twist and Windblade. Which is odd because I was sure I skipped Windblade already having the T30 one.

Annoyingly, Misfire is the only Decepticon Targetmaster I don't have the Legends of. Saw one at TFN, but it was south of £100 so had to leave it be.

Blimey. Still, having that many of the Legends versions is pretty cool. I only have a few of them. Slugslinger, yes, Trigger-happy, no. Doh.

Next some old fashioned "I've got the toy and am going to be a right t!t about it!" FUCKING TITS! Anyway, this figure’s got a long way to go to have to be better than what, to my mind, is the best version of Windblade so far, which is of course the Titans Return version. I know it’s hard to tell from these few titting glimpses, but it looks like it’s not going to completely make the journey. Sure, it’ll be decently molded and it’ll have decent articulation, but, like most Generations figures, it won’t set the world on fire. It’ll be fine. The main problem with this Windblade is that it’s going to be yet another based on the original design, because she’s only ever had one design. Sure, this version is meant to be a Generationsified version of the Cyberverse character, but that was a stylised version of the original character anyway, so we’ve just gone back to square one. I’d have liked to have seen some more variants of her design, as we’ve seen with other main characters, but I think she’s now forever more trapped in the original design/Evergreen mold cycle, which is a shame. I will, of course, have to pick her up anyway - I’ve been banging on about getting a new Windblade character for long enough now that I probably should. And I’d like to show that there’s still some interest in the character…

I gave up on the show as he was so shit he made it unwatchable!!! Feel much the same as you - although he didn’t stop me from watching Animated. I don’t mind the young, kid characters that need to learn and grow lessons in the show… but he was just an arsehole, and indeed never seemed to learn. Given this happened at the same time as the Bayverse ‘Bee was introduced as being a smug jock-like character, I did have to wonder who at Hasbro had their dog run over by a VW Beetle…
