I think perhaps two of them are Slicer and Glyph. I'm not sure about the other one.

Huh. Okay, so now I'm wondering if the figure on the left is Tracks rather than the seemingly obvious Wheeljack. And I'd already thought that presumably Ratchet on the right could be Bluestreak or Prowl drawn without doors.

Why does Ratchet look like he's having his arse fondled by Arcee?

Now this might not be the full line-up of the main cast, it might just be a very odd way of doing a promo. But for me those characters don't work together like that for the simple reason that there's just too much red. Red's a prominent colour on both Prime and Cliffjumper, Ratchet's non-white parts are red, and Arcee's pink is close enough. This is why they need characters like Bumblebee or Hound - to break things up with some different colours.

Pretty sure this will be the main cast for at least the first arc.
Also disagree - uniform colour schemes in a team book are actually very helpful especially when colouring the book and looking to convey mood and atmosphere when colouring backgrounds.

That's a fair point, and something that, being a non-comics-arty person, I'd not considered. I was thinking of it more from the angle of when I've been photographing a group of similarly coloured toys together, and needing to try and break the image up somehow so that one doesn't bleed into the other. But that's a different thing, so fair enough. And I'll be interested to see how they make it work, either way.
I would then say: I guess this means that all the Decepticons they choose will be variants of purple, then? But... that's what they are anyway. So that'll be easier. What will be interesting is which Megatron they'll pick for this, and whether they'll go with the classic handgun Megatron, or whether they'll pick one that you'll be able to buy as a toy...

Apparently there was a stream last night/some point yesterday(ish) with Daniel Warren Johnson, and there's a summary here:
Initially the comment about Dreamwave gave me some concern, but according to follow-up comments that was more to do with the art style, and doesn't mean he'll be following that, so less of a concern now (for me, anyway - probably more of a disappointment for Mr. Wallace). What is promising is that he's a fan of Scioli's work, which from a storytelling basis is to me a good sign - whilst Scioli's stuff might not have been for everyone, he certainly wasn't doing things as standard, so hopefully we'll end up seeing something different.
As discussed on the call last night, I don't mind if they're revisiting G1 "again" on account of the fact that it's actually been some time since that's actually been done in comics. (And a lot more time than I'd like to accept, but never mind...) And it makes sense from a publishing perspective. But if there's the promise that he's going to do something interesting with it, then that'll certainly make it worthwhile.
My main hope is that they don't ignore all the good work that the franchise has been doing with inclusivity and diversity in things like both of the IDW continuities and Earthspark. That's been important in bringing a lot of new fans on board, as well as just being a good and responsible thing to do in general, so I'm hoping that they'll build on that. That's the main thing I want to see, really.

When I saw that tweet with good notes and then read what they had written it was clear that person does not actually know what a good note is.
Again, fed up with the morons on the internet who have no knowledge of his work giving opinions sight unseen and also moaning about the fact it's the war again, when lets be honest the last time there was "proper G1" in comics was Dreamwave.
I echo Llama's points about inclusion and diversity and don't see the need to roll that back, but I would like a robot fight book again it's been a while.

So we have 2 doing repairs & 2 scouts. We know Megatron is on the other team but if they stick with 5 characters or 6 depending how long it takes Jetfire to arrive

So we have 2 doing repairs & 2 scouts. We know Megatron is on the other team but if they stick with 5 characters or 6 depending how long it takes Jetfire to arrive It's an interesting image because it basically distils the Ark crew originals down to a core team that is very close to the way the modern cartoons work; this is almost the TF Prime team. That is of course if this is representative of the comic cast and not just a promo image. The fact Jetfire is around too makes me think there's more to it. Who would a Decepticon five team line up be to go against these? There are loads of answers to that depending on how they want to play the story. Those autobots are original 84 plus Arcee as a female character. So to keep that feel, maybe Megatron, Thundercracker, Nightbird, then Rumble to contrast cliffjumper, which means needing Soundwave too otherwise his alt mode is redundant. Keep Starscream in the background. I would go different though. Megs, Astrotrain, Scrapper, Nightbird, Rumble. But even saying that makes you realise if you're doing a G1 comic, you can't cut out most of the characters. The others have to be there somewhere.

I am assuming the cast are scattered, and will be gathered as we go along. Also I would have the Autobots outnumbered right from the start.

Ok no Megatron - but could they throw a twist in & have Soundblaster with Buzzsaw & Rumble (red). But who could be the other jet? WOuld be one of the 2 original but they both have different sets up Skywarp Thundercracker.
Soundwave always has his cannon on other shoulder

It's got to be Thundercracker. Skywarp's always the one that gets left out.
Unfairly.
