So good to see this again on the big screen. The audio really benefits from the mighty speakers, but it was sad to see just how many shots didn't have Brandon Lee's face in them. A lot more than I remembered.

I haven't bothered with Furiosa even though I loved the previous Mad Max film. I don't see the point of bringing back the best character from Fury Road...but with a different actor and as a prequel. Lots of bad CGI in the trailer. And Chris Hemsworth is usually in dreadful films when he isn't Thor.
If it had been a sequel with Charlize Theron I would have been there.

Furiosa is Hemsworth’s best performance in my opinion, better than his Thor.
And Anya Taylor-Joy is great in everything she’s been in, from Split/Glass to Last Night in Soho. I’ve just watched the first three episodes of The Queen’s Gambit which is another fine piece of work.
Furiosa is also a very good story.

I really should get around to seeing Last Night in Soho. My main impression of Anna Taylor Joy to date is actually her role in New Mutants - where she did a fantastic turn as Ilyanna.
I'm planning to see Furiosa in due course - I quite like George Miller as a director, and I think I'd enjoy seeing him do another story in the same setting as Fury Road.

1. Godzilla: Minus One. Fantastic stuff. Some incredibly strong human drama focused on the trauma of war, survivors guilt and how you rebuild a life after trauma. A giant monster movie that treats its monster as an implacable, terrifying force that seems impossible to fight, something which you can hope to survive. A movie that is sparing with its monster because it knows that its impact is maximised by deploying it strategically and in a precisely calcuated fashion. A truly worthy tribute to the 1950's original. 2. Shadow in the Clouds

10. IF - Sweet film. Takes a while to get going.
11. Transformers 40th Annivarsary Screening - So, so random, but a fun experience.
12. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes - Wasnt that big of a fan of the earlier films but the series gets better and better. VFX are stunning in that you barely register that there are any.
13. The Fall Guy - Dumb fun. There needs to be more of these sort of films.
14. Bad Boys: Ride or Die - Unlike previous instalments this is a direct sequel to the previou film. Which I could not remember at all. Ride or Die does an amazing job of recapping it without it getting in the way of this films story. Which is surprisingly good.
Not only do I hope theres another sequel (the box office seems promising for that), but they even made the spin off they looked to be setting up last time, something I might actually be tempted to watch now. [/quote]

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. What a treat it was to see this on the big screen again. It held up better than expected in that format, considering its age. Spacedock is even more mindblowing when seen at that size.
Magic!

Enjoyable nonsense. From the title I thought it was going to be a straight war film. Arnie can't act for toffee other than to play a robot, so it's not high drama, but it doesn't take itself seriously so that's fine. I like how Arnie car-jacked a random woman, and then she was shortly busting him out of a police van with a shoulder-mounted missile launcher and piloting a random aeroplane through a hail of bullets for him. The final battle felt like a parody of itself. I watched 'Commando: The Musical' on YouTube afterwards and it's a fine thing. Martin

Yes, it's just a glorified concert film with some lore bits thrown in. Clearing the stage and setting up the next chapter of Ghost. But if you buy into all the campy nonsense (as I evidently do) then it's a grand old time.

Saw 'A Quiet Place Part II' in the cinema. Didn't enjoy it, so never got round to watching the original 'A Quiet Place'. But the trailer for the new prequel looks like something I would enjoy, so I've booked to see it this Thursday afternoon.

Inside Out 2: nowhere near the emotional power of the original and nowhere near as relatable.
On its own merits it is a perfectly fine and decent film. But I doubt it will stay in the memory as much.
I strongly remember how stunned and moved I felt at the end of the original and how long it took for me to get out the cinema seat.
Inside Out 2 is by no means bad. It's good on its own merits, but just not in the same league at all.

A Quiet Place: Day One. Cleverly avoids prequelitus by having a standalone story with different characters in a different setting. Also leaves much to the imagination, which is very effective. A lean film which does not overstay its welcome, which is rare in current Franchise Land.
