Although now we know it is Xaaron's fist... the red on the forearm is still a conundrum.
Or if it Flame's fist they don't match the toy.

So, just to clarify- can these comic edition toys be purchased anywhere else, or just through Pulse? Am I likely to see any at TFN for example?

Do I need to say that these are great and unexpected and that I will certainly be getting them? Probably not. But they are and I will. Are they perfect? Flame’s pretty close, but Xaaron’s maybe a little off. But do you know what? That makes this feel like a Universe toy, which is another odd level of nostalgia now, and which also makes it good. The only thing that’s stopping me from jumping on immediately pre-ordering this, and Straxus? We’ll pay day, for starters. But also I already own the definitive versions of Xaaron and Straxus, thanks to our very own blueshift… |

Very excited by these! Have preordered the Xaaron/Flame two-pack. Xaaron has long been one of my favourite characters and definitely have wanted an official toy of him for decades! That said... But also I already own the definitive versions of Xaaron and Straxus, thanks to our very own blueshift… ... me too! |

those are pretty damn good. pre-ordered, and because i was feeling well-disposed towards hasbro for giving me flame and xaaron i pre-ordered straxus too. now i need to sell more toys to pay for it!

I got Shockwave today!!! TL;DR: I LOVE HIM! Immediately considering getting rid of Siege Shockwave. I am not fond of the "cell shading," but I appreciate it. Hasbro has been known to go this hard for sunbow decoes, so it's nice to see on the usually ignored marvel decoes. The colours just arent quite right to me. Shockwave needed to be the dark purple of the siege toy to make the cell/comic printing effect actually match the cover art. They might look different/darker in hand. that seems to be a thing the past few years that the toys don't photograph correctly So, I was right. As consistent, photographs don't do him justice. His base shade does fit his earlier appearances, though it would be hard to get an exact match. The "cell shading" for mack of a better term, does not come across how extensive it is. And it's also not overwhelming. It works so much better than the "battle damage" of Siege, and the Cartoon Cell Shaded Prime and Megatron from a few years back. The print pixel pattern that bothered me in photos works so much better in hand. It's everywhere, but blends in, and is only visible if the light reflects off it right. So you may only see a patch of it, even if half the toy facing you has it. This is definitely my main Shockwave. It already takes a near perfect update and makes it amazing. Since Galactic Man has all the leader super mode parts, I no longer need Siege. |

I do like old Straxus.
A shame he didn't get more of a story arc in the Comics, but who knows. . . There's always Skybound's Energon Universe to give him a new lease of life perhaps.

I got my Staxus today, and it still blows me away how perfect he is as a retool of Galvatron.
Something about him I kinda appreciate is the comic detailing is much more subtle and less extensive than on Shockwave and Grimmy.
So for those who were put off by that, shouldn't be as bothered.
On a side note, first with Grimmy, and now Straxus is present... I'm now really jonesing for a Comic Edition Blaster.
Maybe a Blaster/Scrounge twopack, with Scrounge either being a rerelease of CW Scrounge, or a retool of Origin Bumblebee.

Straxus is great! I am a fan of the old Darkmount toy, but it was always too small and angular. This one screams Straxus, moreso even than the base mould did Galvatron for me. Perfect retool indeed.
Did anyone else catch the revelation on the TT podcast interview with Evan Brooks about why we got Xaaron and Flame?
The Soundwave mould was in use for the Legacy rerelease, otherwise the original plan was purple open-mouthed Soundwave!
I think I'm happier to have gotten Xaaron and Flame, but here's hoping there's going to be another round of comic editions that they can squeeze that into...
