I think the insinuation is he was inside. But it's best to not get us started on this one..... My impression was he was outside. Clinging on for dear life!

I've watched it a again and this, in particular, is really pissing me off. It's gibberish. I demand The Hub make sense of it for me. I think it is intending to point in the direction of the idea that a Dogli...er Godlike, being from its lofty perspective cannot see the ordinary and the everyday. They can only see the cosmic and galactic in scale, the "tides of Life and Death", the "Birth and Death of Stars", but not familial love and the cherishing of those close to us that motivates ordinary people to go on and to fight even in the worst circumstances. Thus the smallest things, are really the most important and we should celebrate the everyday ties that bind us together. But that is me extrapolating from the writers other work, and from themes that recur in it. None of this groundwork is done anywhere in the actual script, and we are just expected to take the final sentence in my speculation as an established fact when it is neither really setup in the narrative, nor part of the metaphysics of the story in any functional way. Essentially it is a statement which is thrown onto the table without support of the story and just left to stand or fall on "everyone loves their family and so they will be focusing on the emotion of the statement that parental love is powerful and it doesn't need anything else". So no, taken on its own merits it is entirely gibberish. It is another one of the great pile of things that caused me to like the actual reunion of Ruby with her mother, but to not care one iota about the preceding forty-ish minutes of "sound and fury" as the bard put it. Because I'm a fool! A mad, blustering, incredibly handsome FOOL! I dared a hope; a hope that New Who could be not too shit in one of its season finales. I was wrong.

I dared a hope; a hope that New Who could be not too shit in one of its season finales. I was wrong. New Doctor Who's first Season finale "Parting of the Ways" I thought was decent. I'll grant you that the rest of them were pretty poor, but I'd argue that first one falls under "not too shit". I'd be entirely happy if New New Doctor Who never did another Season Finale again, and just had a last episode of each season, without the need to lean the rest of the season on it like a structural component. Doctor Who doesn't need to be Marvel TV stuff, or Riverdale. It could just be adventures in time and space for a few weeks a year, then some more adventures the next year. Karl

Exactly. They can't possibly top the season 19 finale 'TIME-FLIGHT' so why even try? It peaked in 1982!

It's not that Sutekh couldn't actually see her, it's just that he was too busy assuming she was something more than she was and looking for what that thing was that he couldn't actually see her for what she was. Which I do like, thematically.

Well this is an announcement that seems like it could be... interesting: sdccblog.com/2024/07/doctor-who-star-trek-teaming-up-for-panel-offsite-at-san-diego-comic-con-2024/"Fans can find Alex Kurtzman, showrunner and executive producer of the Star Trek franchise, and Russell T Davies, showrunner and executive producer spearheading the Doctor Who Whoniverse, coming together for a special panel on Saturday, July 27 from 5:30pm-6:30pm in Room 6A." Time to gird your loins and brace yourselves, I think.

Finally finished watching all the McCoy Whos last night, with the triumph that is the TV Movie. The Conjunx though it... didn't really work, with all the US elements shoehorned in. Which for once I'm inclined to agree. But she was also immediately upset that McGann didn't get a full series because she thought he was really good, which I think puts her in good standing with the rest of us.
As for the chances of her wanting to go back to watch pre-McCoy Who... I think they're slim. Although one day she will watch Trial of the Time Lord. One day...

Ah, the TV Movie. Made in Canada. English director. English writer. English producer.
Yet fans always call it US Who.
I love it. One of my most watched episodes.
If she wants McGann...he has a story on BBC Sounds...
