Job interview channeling required. Panel 1 is in darkest Edinburger on Friday, with the second panel for same job the following Monday (though I do hope they don't have you come back for panel 2 if you flunk panel 1). In other news, job support agency are trying to get me an interview with another place, which would be good.

Gah. I'm starting to get The Fear. I don't want another month on the dole. Don't try to hide your strong desire to get the job in the interview - it's almost always viewed in a positive light (better than looking cool and unbothered one way or the other). However, don't put all your emotional eggs in one basket either. When there are several other interviewees who want the job as much as you, the odds are always going to be against you and you need to pace yourself. Always be prepared to move on to the next one if it doesn't work out. Yeah, easy for me to say, I know, but like nearly everyone I have been there once (albeit temping rather than dole). Martin

I always used to get the Fear a couple of days before the interview, but found that most of the time it had dissipated by the time I actually arrived at the interview destination for some reason. I'd agree with Martin that it always goes across well in interviews to show a good degree of interest in the post. In general those folk I have seen who haven't seemed as if they care one way or another if they get the post tend not to.
On that note. I have a meeting with my boss and the organisations Director tomorrow morning at 10am - to discuss my options for the future once my current post ceases to exist in our restructuring. I suspect that the topic of discussion will be my prospects of getting one of the various new posts being created in the new structure, so if there is any channelling/kind thoughts/etc floating around to spare then it would be warmly recieved.

I know what people are saying, but without wishing to sound patronising, when you're 8 months on the dole following yet another failed attempt to get some direction in life the thought of this state of affairs continuing for just one more day breaks my heart.

Yeah, it's easy to say, "Think these thoughts, have these feelings, and you'll be fine," as if anyone had control over such things.
Heck, life would be so simple if we did.

If there is any channeling/prayers/good thoughts to be had tomorrow afternoon starting about 3pm it would be most gratefully received. Starting at that time I have interviews for two of the new posts being created within the organisation I am currently employed by.
As my current job comes to an end on the last day of this month I have a bit of a vested interest in landing one or other of them.....

Thanks for the channelling folks, it was most gratefully received - and it appears to have had a positive effect as I have been offered one of the new posts for a probationary period of three months. So at the worst I still have three months of employment ahead of me. Hopefully they will wish to continue the contract after that period.
Ta for the assist folks!
