Why is Michael Bay talking about turtles?

He is a producer on the next feature film.

There's another movie???
Well, at least he's only producer. He'll ruin it less.
So they're aliens? How the hell are they the Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles if they're aliens, then? That's the only issue I have with a new/redefined origin. Making them aliens sorta takes apart one of the four key elements to who they are. Outside of that fact, doesn't phase me.

Well, it's one off-the-cuff comment in a press talk. Let's see what the film actually is. 'Alien' could mean 'foreign' rather than 'space aliens' in context. We shall see.

True dat, true dat.
Plus, Bay is a known liar, as well. Not to mention he seems to have a very loose grasp on what he's talking about at any given time.

The TMNT have always had an alien connection somewhat in the TCRI Ooze.
There was meant to be a scene at the end of TMNT II: Secret of the Ooze (1991) where Jordan Perry revealed himself to be an Utrom, but it was nixed. The general feeling was that kids would have mistaken him for Krang.
Tis a shame the Bay stuff overshadowed the previous days positive TMNT news in that 800+ fans broke a Guinness World Record for the most dressed 'ninjas' at the Nickelodeon Shell Shock event. I think that's been the largest fan gathering yet.

That intro was not as bad as I was expecting it to be. A nice call back at the beginning and end to the original opening theme tune. Lets face it they will never do better than the original as the original theme was so well done.

I thought we'd all got past the 'cool rapping' for cartoon intros.
Apparently not.

I believe that to be the worst Turtles opening theme yet. I really hope the show is better!

I was hoping more for a score, but the rap is really grown on me. The pet turtle seen on Raph's shoulder is called Spike. Another one to the collection of characters with that name in TV Shows. Many are speculating he could become Slash/Kirby later on. EDIT:Oh, and this is the new Rat King.

That is indeed a pretty sweeet Collection Set, Could'nt think of a better way to present the entire old series than with the Party Wagon theme.
Turtles fans stateside are all over the place as the new show premieres tomorrow.
The UK Premiere on Monday will also be the first two episodes "Rise of the Turtles" part 1+2

Everything premiers tomorrow! (for you, at least. Still thursday here, and it all kicks off saturday. Central standard time, AKA Texas, is exactly 6 hours behind the timezone this board defaults to. ) New Turtles launches, Young Justice starts new, Ben 10 Omniverse starts new, Clone Wars starts, but Doctor Who ends. Happy happy happy in the morning, depression at night. Saturday threatens to be almost as much of a nerdy bipolar nightmare as a My Neighbor Totoro/Grave of the Fireflies double feature.
But I'm looking forward to TMNT... though I'm getting hesitant on that. Saw a commercial today where Splinter is making stupid cheesie jokes... "Now kick the pants off of evil! Though you should know evil doesn't always where pants!" Camera went to silly closeup, and the scene only held back on a classic rimshot.
It's frightening when Kung Fu Panda's mentor is more mentor-like that Master Splinter.

I reckon when TMNT gets more established on Nick, it will be played off against Kung Fu Panda on a head to head weekend. Not sure if I can wait til Monday. Temptation from Torrentland is strong. Been without a TMNT show for almost 4 years.

Managed to watch Part 1 of the premiere early. Not bad so far. Will reserve judgement until the show finds its feet a bit more.

The show has potential. There were some genuinely funny jokes.
I'm not sure if I can really point out any pros though, outside that it looks like it's going to be a fairly well written series.
Cons though, are different. The CGI almost kills it. It looks pretty, but it's fairly low quality. They don't really have a strong grasp on movement, it feels like. That, Or the models are so cheap that organics sometimes move and behave like bad robots. (A kraang picked april up by the shoulder, and she apparently had no weight or gravity to her). But maybe this will change when the show gets rolling, like Beast Wars.
Second, the animu sight gags and comedic animu expressions just absolutely do not work with the CGI. I would find them tiring, but tolorable if it was traditionally animated, but it's just pretty jarringly out of place with the CG.
But all and all, dispite it's obvious early flaws, I think I'm going to like this show.
As for being paired with Kung Fu Panda? Doubtful. At least over here, as Nick treats KFP like crap.

I'm not too sold on CGI much easier. The surreal parts suit a Derek Wyatt designed show than a CG one. Maybe one day he'll get to work a on TMNT project. That'd be boss! We are apparently meant to look at the graffiti throughout season 1 as it has clues to the whereabouts of a popular TMNT character set to debut in Season 2
Season 1 is also set to have a Mutant of the Week format I enjoyed the 2-Parter, but still waiting for the show to establish itself more. I'll most likely be easily pleased with it despite the flaws. Like with past TMNT animations, New York streets seem empty again .

Hmmm Mutant of the week could quickly get tiresome . I still don't like the CG Turtles. Whenever we got a 2D moment it was a glorious glimpse of what might have been - though Don's look would still be daft. I don't like the theme music and I think kid April might get annoying. But! I thought it was actually a pretty decent 2-parter. Voices were strange at first but they seemed to fit perfectly by the end of the first episode. Some decent fighting... though they did go from ineffectual fighting unit to decent arse-kickers a bit quick ... I liked the Evil UtromsKrang and there was some funny stuff throughout. Also in this version of TMNT Splinter is also Chet. Cool! I probably won't stick with the show for long but it looks like it could be a good one.
