Christmas party last night and today has been utter hell.

I had my work christmas do (well one of them) last night - and I didn't consume a drop of alcohol at all. I even made it on to the dancefloor.
A harbinger of the apocalypse in anyone's book.

Mrs Shockprowl had one of her (many) Christmas parties last night and came home much later than she intended having consumed much more booze than she intended. She hardly ever drinks, so just a sniff of the good stuff and she's anybodies! This AM she was a little, er, ruff 'round the edges. Unfort I haven't been able to swap the day shift I'm on today for a late shift, so Mrs Shockprowl's gotta look after the ever demanding Piglet all day! Oh lordy...

Sorry to hear that shockprowl. Is it possible to get drunk on being happy? Four hours of a phone call with Karl catching up, putting the world to rights made me feel fantastic last night but I'm paying for it now. Feeling almost hungover because I stayed up way later than I normally do. Hell, it was worth it, and I can still put together a coherent sentence! Our school bash is tonight. I'm not going (hubby is coming back from Dorset today rather than from Maidenhead yesterday and I'm not sharing time with him for anyone), but I did donate a 10 litre winebox of rather nice (and very cheap) French rose style plonk to my colleagues. I'm looking forward to finding out how p*ssed they got on it and whether my evil boss will be as hungover as I suspect he will be. Next week is the last week of term. I cannot believe we've got to the end without me keeling over.
Anyone know if Ralph will be posting any more random threads?

That's the one.
I could have used a beer today. Indeed, there have been a couple sitting in the fridge for a few weeks. A mild dose of the space lurgy has kept me on the coke though. Sigh.

How does "I had 4 glasses of bloody good red wine last night and I felt fine when I woke up this morning" go for a thread title? Sorry I didn't post whilst I was pissed but I watched Victoria Wood at the Albert Hall last night instead.

How does "I had 4 glasses of bloody good red wine last night and I felt fine when I woke up this morning" go for a thread title? Sorry I didn't post whilst I was pissed but I watched Victoria Wood at the Albert Hall last night instead. Rowan I had a half bottle of White Wine yesterday evening whilst watching "Doctor Who" (Daleks vs Cybermen, handbags at twenty paces). T'was the half-bottle that I started in the week whilst watching "Cadfael" (Derek Jacobi said something to someone about their being "wine on the table" and I thought that sounded like an excellent idea). Feel fine today. I do wonder whether the reason the time before that hit me quite so hard was that I was mixing my Vodka with Coke - and I haven't had pretty much any Caffinne in over a year.... Perhaps I just don't function properly on mixed fuels - I may be tuned to run on Energon or Protoculture, but not both at the same time.... Karl

Best stay off the Russian Standard vodka just to be sure, Kaptain! I'm not carrying you up any more stairs!
I will be doing very little drinking over the Chrimbo period. Had to duck out of a night out organised for last Friday for personal reasons and wasn't able to make a party on Saturday due to the space lurgy. And, er, that was all that I had organised. Hum ho.

Well my Christmas will involve flat hunting. I need somewhere to live that doesn't involve living without hubby. As for the drinking ... I can't drink and teach (think drinking and driving but instead of being in charge of a tonne of speeding metal, you're in charge of a tonne of screaming 13 year olds) so I'm not touching the stuff until Friday night and I'm safely ensconced with Mom and the Outlaw.

I shall be restricting myself to a maximum of two Russian Standard's an evening in future me thinks. Either that or just switching back to Stoly, which seems to agree with me far more Not a great deal of drinking over the Christmas period for me either. I shall undoubtedly have a pint on Thursday, possibly two depending it time permits(assuming the Thursday thing is still on). Then I may have the odd glass of wine here and there with meals and perhaps the odd pint of Guinness of an evening, but it likely won't amount to much. Not going to the works Christmas do this year either, so nothing on that front either. Karl

Well I intened to drink LOADS AND LOADS AND LOADS AND LOADS! By a some incredible stroke of luck, I managed to book annual leave for 24th to the 30th inclusive! Got some Port lined up, the finest red wines know to man, 16 million cubic gallons of Stella, and some absolutely, arse-spankingly tastey, Glenmorange wiskey (yeah I know I spelt Glenmoragne wrong, but who cares how it's spelt?). I did, get this, VOLUNTEER to work New Year's eve night, to allow some of my worky chumbs to not work it. Felt it was fair. Often a laugh to be sure. The young ladies love a man in uniform, especially us Ambulance types, 'cos we're all caring- FOOLS!
