Me and George had champers last night to celebrate our 8th anniversary as a couple and 5th anniversary of moving into our home.
Nice tipple but too darn fizzy.

I'm awaiting Ralph's entry. He was merry.

Ralph was indeed quite merry. Perhaps he will have had the "amazing disappearing hangover" that I have had - woke up at 3.15 this morning thinking I might be a bit ill when I woke up properly. However, I went back to sleep and woke up at 6.10, five minutes before the alarm, feeling pretty good all told.
Clearly Guinness should be my beverage of choice it seems.

Bloody weird that, Karl. I did exactly the same thing, but ended up getting up at 4am and doing some lesson planning.

I didn't drink enough to feel the way I do. Tis the interference from the space lurgy. I knew full well this would happen. Indeed, I remained sensible and stuck to soft drinks right up until Karl turned up and uttered the immortal words "Would you like a drink?" and what my brain heard was: "Go on. You feel terrible anyway, a few pints of beer can't make things any worse." And so it began. I do vaguely recall watching Doctor Who: Earthshock drunkenly circa 3am. Can't beat Peter Davison and Beryl Reid v the Cybermen after a few jars. -Ralph

It's all Karl's fault, apparently, for asking "what do you guys want to drink" rather than "what do you guys want" when he was getting in his first round. The last two words kick off a recessive gene within certain Scots that force them to immediately imbibe as much alcohol as possible.

I didn't make anywhere near eight pints. As I recall I had four pints between six and ten pm, then had to decamp as I had to be in the office today. It would appear that other folks, for whom it was not a school night, may have stayed out a little longer than my good self.
I would also observe that the question "what do you want to drink" is intended to cover all drinkable liquid beverages - from water and tea onwards and upwards. I would have been quite amenable to bringing folk soft drinks you know........
(Speaking of alcohol - I seem to have ended up with quite a haul from the work christmas draw this year - one box of nice chocolatey biscuits, two bottles of white wine, and a bottle of Grouse. And I still haven't gotten rid of all the booze from last years draw - I have a bottle of wine from last year still to be drunk. I have a suspicion some of the proceeds of the last day at work may be making an appearance at the New Year gathering this year.)

My lurgy saw me up all night and unable to drink. I have a case of Miller that is sitting undrank and mocking me. Right now I don't need booze to feel like crap.

Other than a few beers the night of Glaswegian I have sadly been stone cold sober this holiday season thus far. I just haven't felt well enough. Urgh.

I'm dying...........................
Went to a wedding last night. Didn't think I'd had that much but apparently I had. Chundering all morning and I'm in work too. I think that's part of the problem - I'm sure I could have slept this off if I'd had the day off. My first chunder told me I'd had red wine last night, and my subsequent ones told me my stomach lining is orange. Stayed at the hotel the wedding was at last night and got drove into work by a friend this morning. Was hanging on for grim death for the best part of an hour, trying not to vom in his car.
Worst hangover in a long, long time. We are having a New Years party at ours tonight and I think I'll be on coke all night. Possibly in bed by 9pm too.
