I can't find an old thread on this so....
(First person to use the words Magnus, Rid and Ultra in the correct order is in trouble OK)
I've been sorting through my Armada/Energon/Cybertron toys to sell some. I found E Slugslinger. And it took me half an hour to put it into plane mode OK !

Magnus is actually quite simple if you remember to flip those blue panels along the sides of the trailer. Otherwise, it is very frustrating trying to get him to align properly.
There are various Alternators that could be mentioned here.

Honestly, why would Ralph submit himself to a thread with that title? He must have known what would happen.

Alternators Shockblast is a bugger to transform when you buy him for the first time (although on subsequent transformations he gets a little easier).

Alternators Shockblast gets my vote too...
Graham, I had bother with Megatron too, are you having trouble aligning him up close to the end of it? There's a technique you can use to mess about with him that allows him to line up correctly.

Alternator Grimlock. The arms in particular.
What? It's too late to study.

I am still unable to get my Masterpiece Megatron into pistol mode for the first time. I haven't even tried yet! Too scared I'll break him! (I'm a bit clumsey, not good when you're a medic, anywho...) Alt Wheeljack is a buggerer to transform. But pretty much any alt is tricky.

Quote: I am still unable to get my Masterpiece Megatron into pistol mode for the first time. ------------------ Really? That bad. I timed myself. It takes me 45 minutes to transform MP Megatron to pistol mode- but it is absolutely doable. Just follow the instructions step by step...every time as to the biggest offenders in the "hard to TF" category, here's my list of not so obvious ones: 1. Alternator/Binaltech Gimlock/Wheeljack mold: The arms are a complete pain in the neck. Each and every time I tried to TF this thing the arms had be sitting their staring at them as if they were the new rubix cube. Thankfully, I hate the Wheeljack toy and was never fond of Alts/BT anyways so don't have him/them any more. 2. Big Convoy - not that hard once you get the hang of him, but I am generally unable to Transform him from robot to Elephant mode without "massaging" him - and I know that there must be some way to align the panels without having to do that... then again - I don't have him any more (but want to again!)... 3. G1 Jazz - NOW he's easy, but when I was a tot and got him he was very hard - I was more used to the later G1 transformers which had even simpler transformations than the original Diaclone lot. The idea of the mask coming down over the "stomach" and that then folding - ooo...it bent me out of shape back then 4. G1 Megatron - another "difficult" one to transform...at least from the point of view of 1984...but I guess that's not really the question.... 5. Ummm....can't think of anybody else dyrl

Just follow the instructions step by step...every time 45 Minutes seems like rather a large time investment for a single transforming toy in all honesty. I'm kind of glad I don't have one of those then. Exactly the reason I sold my Alt Grimlock. I could never wrap my head around it and eventually lost patience. Not had any problems with Big Convoy though I must admit. Karl

Yes, but the amazing thing is that it is NOT 45 minutes of sitting there trying to figure out how to transform MP Megatron.
It is 45 minutes of actually going through the step by step motions of the transformation.
It's not like you can reduce the 45 minutes to, say, 20 minutes or 10 minutes (unless maybe you memorize exactly every motion you need to make).
To me - this makes MP Megatron truly amazing: the fact that just DOING the transformation takes that long.
I wonder if other people have similar experiences - or are there any Masters of MP Megs out there who somehow TF him real quick?

I didn't read the instructions on MP Megatron (like all my TFs as I relish the challenge).
It took me an hour the first time going from robot to gun.

Please use this thread to nominate the Transformers toy that you have found to be the most difficult to transform.

I nominate Masterpiece Megatron. I never even once managed to get it to gun mode and that was following the instructions. To this day, he remains a mis-transformed mess.

A beautiful piece of engineering, everything has a place in both modes as they should. Its the toys that don't seem to have set position for parts in at least one mode that both me.
Lining up panels on Big Convoy isnt much fun and toys that have stupidly tight joints on fold away hands that dont have proper ridges to push on and end up breaking nails are the ones I find most difficult.
Transforming kill Bison without it shattering is pretty darn difficult too.

Alternators Smokescreen and Shockwave are buggers to TF, especially getting them back into car mode. MP Megatron is a bugger though, total nuisance!

Another vote for MP Megatron. It took 2 hours with instructions to get him into gun mode. I changed him back into robot mode and he's stayed that way ever since. I think the most frustrating thing about him is that he looks like it should be easy to TF him and you can see immediately where the bigger bits should go, but it requires nanometer-perfect positioning of lots of small fiddly parts to get him to fit together properly.

Seconding the love for Megatron!
The ones I dont like are the shellformers. Sideburn is a GOOD example of one - everything lines up in a proper place. A BAD example is BWNeo Break, since you have to stuff everything into the shell and hope to god it all fits.
The Armada Street Speed team are horrid too. The blue and green ones explode because the stress in actually transforming them is too much for their little joints.

Movie Leader Class Brawl and Beast Wars Neo Mach Kick Oh yes, Mach Kick was the devil, though I give him points for being clever with the waist trick. Was Brawl that horrid to transform? I've never even seen one.

I didn't think Brawl was too bad. His arms are a bit fiddly getting back in to tank mode, but as long as they're the right way round, there shouldn't be too many problems.

BM Megs, didn't look at the instructions, but took me a long while.
If it's based on instructions though, the only one I've ever looked at was BM TM Optimal Optimus. I wondered what the peg/hole was on his wrists and didn't realise that they locked together in 'car' mode.
PS THIS THREAD HAS REMAINED RiD ULTRA MAGNUS FREE. PLEASE KEEP IT THAT WAY AS HE IS A PIECE OF PISS. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

Technically speaking, the most difficult to transform are Actionmasters, Robot Replicas, Mighty Muggs....
I'll get my coat...
