Is it a 'bad' thing - like DW's War & Peace? Which I secretly enjoyed?
Or is it something that nobody could ever conceivably enjoy, like the Knightfall radio play?

I hope Ralph has secretly made a 12-issue Rocklords vs Meteorbs comic maxiseries.

That wouldn't be a booby-prize, that would be incredible.
Are there plans in place for an associated Scotcon comic this year?

OK, I've booked Friday 12 Nov. and Monday 15 Nov. off work. So I'm in! I look forward to details (such as what city it's to be located in) in due course. Ah. I notice now that in the first post it says it's in Edinburgh. Duh. That means I can start booking trains and hotels. (OK, hotel.) I trust the details are now set in stone, as I'm about to start spending cash. Martin

I'll be there for the Saturday shenanigans. Sunday I'm not sure, unless I can find a place to crash out, anyone want a Gav in their home?
Probably not!
I'm going to give Martin a big ol HUG!

I am very good at sleeping where I lay, so if it's okay - I can crash at Burns Towers?!

I need to sort out what I'm doing for Scotcon. Does anyone have any crash space Fri/Sat, or any recommendations as to where to stay?
Also when is best to come up / depart?

I need to sort out what I'm doing for Scotcon. Does anyone have any crash space Fri/Sat, or any recommendations as to where to stay? I should be able to spare some space at SDF Karlross if you want. It would mean a twenty-minute or so train journey to and from Edinburgh, but I can certainly sort out somewhere for thee to crash. Karl

As a wimp of an Englishman who likes comfy beds* and cooked breakfasts and can afford the odd treat to self these days, can people advise on whereabouts in Edinburgh is most convenient for ScotCon accessibility, and if they know of any decent 3-star-ish hotels or guest houses threreabouts?
Ta.
Martin
*Karl's spare bed is comfy but others besides me deserve turns in it.

I have been considering making the trip up, but transport is proving a little more than I had hoped to find.Is there a rough start/stop time so I can narrow down my travel options some more?
Also location, is it any particular part of Edinburgh? I stayed at a reasonably pleasant hostel not to far from the station a few years back but it may be out of the way for the rest of the weekend.

Gav is staying with me. It's a one bedroom flat so not huge amount of room but I can accomodate another person crashing on the floor if need be. There is also the couch which would fit one.

We are going to be mostly within a short walking distance of Haymarket train station (one of the two main stations in the city centre, the other one being Waverley). Edinburger is not that large and can be traveresed on foot in about half an hour in any direction.
I can't advise on hotels/B&B's because I've never used any here, sorry!

If need be if have some spare space available for folk who are willing to crash on the floor or the sofa in addition to room for one person in the spare bed. It'd mean a short train journey to and from but the offer is there.
As to hotels I believe there are several Travelodges in the nearby area. Eglinton Crescent about a half mile from Haymarket and one on Shandwick place - stlll less than a mile from Haymarket, based on what I recall from my wanderings Not really that knowledgable about hotels/guest houses in the area, but for whatever it is worth.....

Andy Folk will be about all day, so whenever you could manage would be fine. Someone would come get you if need be and we would make sure you did not miss the QUIZ OF DOOM or THE YOMTOV FACTOR. -Ralph

I hope to make it, but it would definitely depend on getting floor space from one of the lovely scots.

Train prices up to Scotland from where I live seem to be over £100. I haven't got that kind of money to spend on just travel expenses so I'll have to give it a miss.

After visiting the new piglets and the very angry ducks at the city farm this afternoon, I have decided we must pop along as a fun day-time activity. It's a wonderful little resource in Edinburger and sadly not publicised enough place. It's within a short walking distance and is free (£2 suggested donation). The chickens were especially insane today. I said hello to the frogs (whom I have sponsored).

I'd like to offload to a good home at ScotCon 2010 for no cost a set of Marvel's Transformers Generation 2 - that's G.I. Joe #138-142, TF: G2 #1-12 and as an extra the Alignment paperback.
If there is multiple interest in acquiring these, a reprise of The Longtooth Virus or some other quick contest may be in order.
