It's halfway through the first volume before a Number 4 Cartridge is used HALFWAY! And I've not seen a reference to "Der Happy Schtick" yet! Wulf uses it's proper name halfway through The Schicklgruber Grab, which is the first story when everything really clicks. And interestingly it starts sowing the seeds for future strip continuity with the SD Dispatcher Harvey being named for the first time and the appearance of an SD called Stix. He's got two brothers as we'll see in v2.

I love The Shicklgruber Grab, though Journey To Hell is a good early one as well.

The Journey to Hell didn't really do it for me.

I've dug out my case files for a re-read. I'd never noticed before that Kim Raymond's H-Wagon (Case Files v7 & v8) seem to be "inspired" by the Vulcan Shuttle in Star Trek: The Motion picture.
The stuff around 300 onwards is gold

Strontium Dog v2: The business. Portrait of a Mutant (part of which was in the very first 2000ad I ever read in my doctor's surgery), The Killing, Outlaw. If you only read one volume, read this.
A comment on the 2000ad reprint volumes: a prog number on the first page of each episode in the header/footer would be nice.

Judge Dredd - The Restricted Files Vol 3
Geoff Senior drawing a Dredd story which co-stars Walter the Wobot, and Furman writing a tale or two.
Splendid stuff.
The Lovecraft Anthology II - splendid stuff and some new Mick McMahon artwork. What more do you want.

Ploughing through Judge Dredd Complete Case Files 13. Hadn't realised how far in advance Kraken was set up with occasional appearances.

Latest print issue was actually in the big Asda in Dunfermline in the Try Me promotional bit.
Gobsmacked at that, and I picked it up.
Dredd story seems to be the biggest game changer since Tale of a Dead Man.

Beeh glancing at 2000ad in WHS the last few months to read Dredd: Day of Chaos. This week's ups the anti a bit. And you could have predicted where thie week's was going! I've completed my read of the complete case files. I managed a volume and a bit of Rogue Trooper before The Book Depository's 10% off deal lured me into more Dredd trades. Loved the Tour of Duty trades, especially the first volume. Now it's the Restricted Files turn....

I cannot bloody stand the Dark Judges. They make no sense in Dredd's universe.

Argh, you know what I mean. They just don't work in that fictional set-up for me. As I've said before, it makes as much sense to me in overall believability in the universe as if they turned up in Coronation St. Or if Flash Gordon turned up in an episode of Rumpole Of The Bailey. Does not compute.

I dont know, they work as a sort of a perverse reflection on Dredd's world and justice system.
I do think that they're a bit of a one trick pony though, there's not a lot you can do with them.

I quite like them, remember it's in the future, there are aliens and all sorts.
I do agree they should only be used sparingly and lets be fair, Fear, Fire and Mortis have been in captivity since Necropolis as far as I am aware.

Can't stand PJ Maybe either.
But Judge Death is worse. I have never been able to take characters seriously who go 'ssssssss' a lot when speaking.
