I am surprised he has lasted this long.
I suspect a massive backlash from fans now about how evil he was, because that's the way of things. The thing he (and Jim Lee and Bob Harras, and before him Jeanette Kahn and Paul Levitz) should all be pilloried for is letting Eddie Berganza stay in a job as long as he did. None of them have been properly held to account for that.

It's not as big a surprise as people were making out.
The Warner/AT&T merger is eerily similar to the AOL/Time Warner merger from back at the turn of the millenium. All the various divisions in Warner will be keen to be showing healthy returns or risk getting shuttered. Having a distributor effectively hold you to ransom isn't going to be looked upon well by the corporate overlords.
I hope Diamond do go away, they've been allowed a monopoly for far too long - admittedly due to the short sightedness of DC and Marvel.

I've been waiting for this since the Warner/AT&T merger. It's been coming, DC desperate to show how profitable they are, it's why certain imprints were rapidly shuttered and why several notable works grandfathered into Black Label.

Long overdue transition, the problem is he talks about the culling the bottom 25 per cent. That's all well and good, but they will still pump put x amount of Batman books. THAT IS PART OF THE PROBLEM, I don't need or want loads of Batman titles unless you can justify them with a unique selling point - same goes for Marvel.

I'll admit that I really felt this one. He was probably my favourite Legion writer, and delivered one of the best Justice League runs of all time. He was a fantastic talent and will be much missed.

It's a real kicker and gone too young. Very talented creator and never succumbed to the bullshit hype some comics folk fall into when they have success.
