The next mart is at the end of February.
However, my February is fully booked up. And if we leave it any later we're veering into Transformation 2011's timeslot, and then it'll be Swincon!

Unlikely here, due to the obvious.
Never been to Brum before. This would have been a cool weekend out. If I need to get away from crying, nappies and feeding, this'll be a good break.
Swincon next year is more likely since it's nearer.

Any sensible date in January is fine with me as long we're given enough notice of the official date. I don't want it to be too early in January due to having to recover from my Christmas shopping bills but also sometime in January I'm going for a meal with my pub quiz team. The date for that isn't set yet but as long as the Brum meet doesn't clash with that it will be fine.

The longer we wait to confirm the 8th, the closer it gets. And the more expensive the hotels become.

It's decision time, is what you're saying.
I'm terrible at making decisions.

If we can confirm the 15th I can do that.

I should also be able to make it but only if I've got enough spare cash after the Christmas shopping has been done for afford it. Hopefully I will.

15th should be good for me, not had the official okay but I can't see it being an issue.

SATURDAY 15TH JANUARY 2011... CONFIRMED!!!
I'm booking train tickets today before the prices go up!
Now I understand a few of you will be booking into a hotel, so if I can be free on the Sunday as well I may join you*.
I nominate Mark to be our locations manager for good places to eat and drink.
If anyone needs my mobile number, just PM me.
*Not literally, I'll get a room myself.

For people looking into cheap hotels, and who may not mind sharing with each other, my bro and I recently stayed at the Aston University hotel at about £50 per night between us. Since he did all the research and booking for that place last time, I'll ask him to post links and contact details and whatnot here when he gets back.
*edit;
I should mention that it is literally a two minute walk into the city, at the Forbidden Planet end of town.

I've booked a room for the night of Saturday 15th January at Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre (on Smallbrook Queensway, near New Street Station) via Expedia for £44.07.
Edit: And now I've booked my train tickets. Arrive New Street 10:45 on the Saturday, depart 16:30 on the Sunday. Total cost £24.
All non-refundable, so regardless of what you guys do, it looks like I'm spending that weekend in Birmingham!

I shall look into costings this week to see if it's doable. I keep being distracted by other things in life of late.

Regretably it looks like I am not going to be able to attend after all. Hope you all have a great time though and all being well I might see some of you later on in 2011.

I've looked into the trains. Getting back on Sunday alone would cost £107 (!) and involve a 11/12 hours journey (!).
Balls.

Yep. Having looked into it, travel plus accom comes in at £200+ which I just cannot afford for a weekend jaunt.
Oh well!

Well if your willing to put up with some (possibly) odd travel times Megabus has cheap tickets. For some reason Edinburgh to Birmingham isn't working, but Ed to Lon - Lon to Bri or Glasgow to Birmingham come up with tickets from £5-20 each way.

So, any chance we could get a role call or something for this? Right now the only people I know for sure will be there are me and my brother!

My train will be arriving at New Street Station on Saturday morning at 10:58. And I shall be on it!
Martin it's occurred to me that I haven't actually seen you for about 5 years, I am very much looking forward to catching up with you!
