I think we could mostly meet around the 10.30 to 11.30 mark at New Street Station, exactly where Martin suggested. If anyone's travelling in later, we can arrange to meet them somewhere else.
Once we're met, we could get some lunch, have a wander around the comic shops, that second hand bookshop and other places of interest, head for the pub to set up base, indulge in some libations... and then see where the rest of the day takes us.

Graham, if you're thinking about popping over to Lichfield to my shop I won't be in there on the Saturday but I can make sure the shelves are well stocked and all the stuff out the back is priced up so people can fetch the rest if you want to look at anything else (shoot me if you're thinking of the second-hand book shop in Brum! lol)
If it is Sunday, it's only about £4 return by train from Brum and about 4-5 mins walk from the station but I can't leave the shop Sunday to meet up with anyone to bring you along as I'm in charge for the day. I could possibly meet you on Saturday and take you there though. Andy has my mobile number so he could get in touch with me.

Sorry Simon, I was referring to a bookshop in Birmingham that we were planning to go to.
I don't think there'll be any time this weekend for us to get to Lichfield.
But for the record, I have been there many times as I'm involved in some of the fundraising to help with the restoration of the Herkenrode Glass at the Cathedral there. It's a beautiful place!

I'll be there Saturday. Just booked the first part of my trip. I'll probably be leaving early though as the only cheap train home is now Saturday evening. Still that leave 6-8 hours of fun.

Graham, I know the one you mean - down Digbeth? I remember going in there years ago and picking up a load of the old Marvel G1 comics for 20p each!

That could be the one.
I only think of Birmingham as having two districts, though: The Bullring and Post Armageddon Shithole.

Checking into hotels will also have to be done by some of us at some point, probably the earlier the better. But mind you, I should be able to do a quick there-and-back to mine from the station in a couple of minutes. Martin

Holiday Inn is right above the Nostalgia and Comics shop and I gather that the establishment that Ed, Ben and Andy are utilising is near/by Forbidden Planet. So we can be checking in as we wander around.
Unless you have a lot of luggage, of course.

Can we have some channeling, please, for Andy today as he's making the arduous trek from Scot-Land to Birmingham this day. We want him to arrive safely Andy will be fine: He's not travelling with Nick. Follow his progress at twitter.com/andrewdturnbullI've just sent him a helpful text to ask if he's nearly there yet..... As much as I'd like to join you all tomorrow and bring the Dinopope I feel so **** after this week's poor sleeping that I don't think it will be possible.

Quiz sheets are printed, stationery cupboard has been raided for pens, prizes have been wrapped.
I just need to spray mount the cardboard wings to my Sunstorm costume, apply this translucent yellow film to my glasses and paint my trainers yellow and I'm ready for the off!

I was actually going to paint Andy in various shades to demonstrate the concepts. I too have raided the stationary cupboard tonight, and will finish constructing (yes CONSTUCTING) prizes tonight. I may see if I can find Andy if he is not knackered, does anyone know how his journey is going (twitter is blocked at work )

Phil - I'm sure we can head back to the station to meet you if need be. Graham - I'll be travelling light. Martin

Shouldn't be an issue either way really, but Ben and I's hotel is at the FP end of town, and a little bit further on. Not far at all, but we wouldn't want to detour everyone else.

Do you have an itinary for tomorrow if I find I'm able to come? Will you be straying far from New St? The only itinerary we have, as such, is as described previously upthread. I doubt we'll be any further than 1 mile away from New St Station, so if you can make it (which would be brilliant) then just Andy a buzz and we'll send an envoy. Ed, we can easy hang around in the nearest pub while you and Ben check-in. We're in no rush, so it's no big deal. Yes! And a round of sweetcorn in John's honour. If only you'd seen this thread. Admittedly it's all been a bit last minute and we've only been discussing this since November.

A quick peak at the fixture list raises the hopes of me going: Swindon & Bristol City are at home, Bristol Rovers are at Carlisle and neither Villa or Birmingham City are playing (local derby Sunday midday)
A further glance reveals there's no planned train works between Swindon & Brum.
