The light was green last night!
It's like trying to order the TF Visual Works book from HLDelay. Jumps from yellow light to green light in the blink of an eye.

Don't panic yet, it has been flicking between "Backordered", "Out of Stock" and "in stock" for the past couple of weeks. I suspect that they are only ordering enough to cover the orders they are getting at the moment. The fact that it is yellow lighted and not red-lighted means there is still a likelihood that they can get it.
I've put an order in and am crossing my fingers for it.

The light was green and said 'In stock' when I placed my order. Imagine my annoyance when I checked my account after the holidays and saw it was listed as 'backordered'. The exact same thing happened with my order for the TF Visual Works book.
DAMN YOU, HLDELAY!

So. The book comes into stock and I push the "Ship available items" button. I get a message to say that they will process the order when they come back the next day. The next day (last night) they get as far as acknowledging they have received the order before closing for the weekend.
I guess if all goes well it might actually ship at some point at the end of next week...

The Brave book showed up on Tuesday whilst I was at work. (Oddly, according to Parcelforce I signed for it at my home at 09:45. Even though I was in a different city, at work at the time…..) Had a chance to look through it during the last couple of evenings, and it is a very good book.
Very similar in style and layout to “Generations”, but more comprehensive in terms of the time-frame it covers. It seems to have everything from the original toys, through to the action figures from a few years ago and the DVD pack-in exclusives, right up to the reissue and Masterpiece line. The photography is as good as “Generations” and it is similarly formatted as a “coffee-table” book with the text kept to a minimum to make more space for the pictures.
Nice to see some of the animation models reproduced here and there as well. I would have liked to have seen more of those, but I guess that as they were printed a few years back in a proper artbook for a lot of the Sunrise shows they may not want to reproduce them here as well. Shame really, as the art book is out of print.
All told it is a cracking little book and a nice photo-resource for the “Brave” lines. I guess it would be even better if I could read the text so I could get something out of the episode listings and things up the back, but as it is mostly images it doesn’t serve as any barrier to enjoying the book.
Great stuff, and a welcome addition to my growing collection of these sort of things. Only problem is that it makes me so tempted to go and hunt down some of the old Brave toys now!

I was flicking through this again today and it struck me that - perhaps heretically - I actually like a lot of the Brave multi-bot combiners better than some of the Transformer ones. Guardiron/Super Gardiron from "Fighbird" and the Fire-engine/Police car/Drill Tank/Jetplane one from "Mightgaine" I think look really well integrated in their combined modes - much less a Frankenstinian collection of parts, and more a genuine separate entity to their components.
Looking through the book it also does feel like things like Magmatron and JRX benefited from the lessons learned from Brave. It does feel like Takara learned a lot from Brave about different ways that they could pull off combining toys.

This book is going to cost me a fortune. First on the list- CAPTAIN SHARK! -Nick Captain Shark is rather spiffy isn't he? A robot pirate, complete with Cutlass, eyepatch and hat, which turns into a space-going shark. Superb. If I wasn't operating under tight budgetary restrictions the book could cost me a fair amount to. However, I shall have to content myself with having excellent visual references for these fantastic looking characters I fear. Karl

If i hadn't just bought Zack and Wiki, and come home from the cinema with beers...Captain Shark would have been mine.
