Brilliant playset. Shame the other one was cancelled. I reckon Anchovy Alley will once again be hugely sought for when a Pizza Face figure finally surfaces.
LARP wave on its way soon to HERO HQ.

I never knew they was a cancelled playset. I just looked it up to see it is Shredder's lair. I would rather have had that.
I did spot my first movie figures in Forbidden Planet, Glasgow yesterday for £9.99 each. They has Shredder and Donatello, which looks rather nice in person.

I found the Classics Movie figures yesterday. I'm rather unimpressed as they're just the regular bodies with new, slightly less cartoony heads. The paintwork on them leaves a TON to be desired. The sculpting detail is non-existant.
I had planned to snag at least Donny, but I ended up walking away from the lot.

I thought they were all supposed to be entire brand new sculpts?

They look exactly the same, to me. If not, then I don't see much point because they don't bring anything new to the table in terms of anatomical differences or sculpting. I didn't exactly have my one and only classics donny with me to compare.

Shame to see this didn't translate over to the current classics line. I'd rather have had Next Mutations classics over these Still, Classics Shredder and Krang may turn out ok.

I dunno, the classic movie wave as a whole is pretty disappointing, sure, but the sculpt on Mikey at least looks spot on to me. Pretty sure I'd pick it up if I saw it.

I was looking forward to seeing what they did with Bebop and Rocksteady, but their designs sadly do nothing for me. I think the Baxter Fly is most appealing of this bunch. I guess the comic turtles are a nice and affordable way to get representations of the originals, but since I have a full set of the Neca ones, they're fairly redundant for me.
Snake Karai is awful.

Everything about snake karai is awful. It's awful they mutated her into that. The design makes no sense. It's awful that one of the only two strong females was messed with that badly. It's awful that that's the version they chose to make the toy from, when she's been such an eagerly awaited character. And it's awful that it's such a huge missed opportunity. If they HAD to mutate her, it was the most perfect excuse to do Ninjara.
Aside from that, I'll buy her to support more females in the line.
But Rocksteady is a thing of beauty to me.

I don't have that big a problem with them choosing to mutate her. People seemed to be expecting it since the day she discovered mutagen. It will also strongly mess with Splinter and Shredder in the future, and we don't know the full extent of what happened to her. she is capable of retaining her human form, and she may very well have 'owned' her condition when next we see her.

LARP Turtles are here and they are fun.
Also finally got Slash too, and he might be a repaint like Cockroach Terminator and Mutagen Man have been. The skintone on my figure is a lot darker than the product pictures and other collection photos I've seen.
Playmates have also spoiled Bebop and Rocksteady's storyline via the character bios online.

Nice to see the previous American TMNT promotion here in light of Krispy Kreme not doing the Ghostbusters donuts.

Found the Comic Turtles tonight, and grabbed Donny.
First, they are a GREAT alternative to the Neca Turtles. They're a but smaller and slightly less articulated than the normal Nick Turtles. Their sculpts are amazing. They really feel like the original art brought into 3D.
The bad- The part of his articulation that's "slightly less," is his wrists. Normally this doesn't bother me, except his hands are static palms up. It doesn't look bad (as with examples like BW10th/Cybertron deluxe Optimus/botcon '14 apelinq), but as normal it hampers poses, and prevents him from holding his Bo in both hands. Also, they cannot stow their weapons on their backs. And they desperately need a good black wash to bring out their amazing detail. Would also make them look that much more like art.
They're definitely worth the price, though.

I see what you mean about the black wash. They sort of look bruised and stitched up a little.
Recently acquired Metal Mutants Shredder. A toy I've been hunting since 1995.

Yeah, a whole bunch of new stuff just dropped, related to the new season. Including the dream beavers, the "mystic" outfits, Napoleon Bonafrog, The Lonely Mutation of Baxter Stockman, and a bunch of stuff that slips my mind. They also get a package change, with each individual turtle's font being colorcoded to them. A lot of older stuff getting repackaged, as well. Still can't find Karai.

Concerning the Dream Beavers, a friend of mine told me that they're based on the Terror Bears, from the old TMNT and other Strangeness RPG. The Terror Bears being a spoof of the Carebears.
And I am strangely excited about Icecream Kitty getting it's own figure. Weird given I HATE Icecream Kitty. Guess it's grown on me.

Happy to see Ice Cream Kitty get a figure and part of a 2-pack with Cluckingsworth and Spike. I missed the sidekick figures from the old line and now they seem to be coming back.

I stopped getting these figures awhile ago, and indeed sold them all on. Recently I decided I'd get Slash and Mondo when he's released, because Corey Feldman and Robbie Rist. Slash came this morning and, wow, they really couldn't be fucked to paint this guy, huh? If they could go to the trouble of sculpting all this detail, how hard would it have been to splash a little extra paint on it? Especially since all the colours are already in use on the figure.

Always disappointing when they cut costs in one area when you can see money and time has been lavished elsewhere. Makes everything else seem half-assed.

Mutations Slash is slighty better, because of the longer legs.
Going by customer reviews on Amazon people are increasingly unhappy with the plummeting paintjobs on these figures. A prime example has been the Vision Quest wave, where these toys are sold using full color stock images but turn out nothing like they are in the picture.

Yeah, the vision quest (which i think are officially dubbed mystic) turtles have all their gear cast in trademark colors. Which I kinda understand, to help kids ID them easier. But the gear does need more paint aps.
I think in an effort to keep these as impulse buy and "momma puhleeeeeeeze i need this or I'll just diiiiiie" cheap, they're starting to sacrifice paint.
TMNT are still the cheapest action figures on the market.
And I STILL can't find Karai.
