I'm actually quite disappointed that a finite number has been set. It makes it sound like there'll be a specific story arc or arcs, everything will be tied up and it won't be left open. I'd much rather the possibility that it could run indefinitely.
But, as it's Big F, I'm sure he'll leave a few doors ajar. After all, it never ends.

Great news. I am very much looking forward to this. Between a bit of modern-retro from Furman and some promising writing teams on the two ongoings we certainly have some impressively good news this year.

This will probably be the first series (except the UK Movie comics) that I'm buying individual issues of!!

A finite series actually makes me more interested as the long saga now might have a chance to build towards a decent, planned ending rather than just peter out again (with sales on something like this likely to tail off as it goes on). I'm quite surprised to have a 20-issue run. Previously, I doubted it would be commissioned past a 4-issue mini if it was given the go-ahead. Heck, 20 issues is a very long run in today's comic market in itself. I think having a decent-length planned run with an end-point being worked towards will result in a stronger story rather than a very short nostalgia-fueled special mini. In other news, I do hope these have variant cover numbers so we can have #333-352! -Ralph

Variant UK overs would be amazing.
as for the ending, I'm much happier that it will have a planned end just as G2 did, but if in the very unlikely event 81-100 outsell the other Transformers comics or more likely at least sells better than expected its easy to extend the series later with another story arc of x issues. When sales start to peter out that arc becomes the last one.

G2 didn't really have a planned end, Furman was just sensible/realistic enough to write it with half an idea it might get cancelled any minute, so when it did (around issue 7) he had enough time to wrap it up cohesively enough. But there's loads of stuff he would have left out.

I'm absoloutely delighted to read this news! In fairness, the ongoing has greatly improved over the past few months, but with the exception of the anticipation of James Roberts contributions, nothing has really got me this excited about TF comics in years.

If they have the UK licence to reprint the IDW stuff, then they should reprint #81+ as #333+, maybe throw in a short UK exclusive story and a reprint of an old Marvel UK story in each issue. Or even a back up strip of GI Joe or similar. Get Lew Stringer on board for new Robo Capers.

Does Titan have an IDW licence these days? They haven't used their material in ages. I rather thought that the DOTM prequels might be used in the UK comic.

You didn't see his hint after posting the IDW covers? He made a comment on one of them that he may return.

I've always though of it as Hasbro owning all the TF comics, so if Titan have the UK licence from Hasbro, they can reprint anything in Hasbro's back catalogue [which would include all the IDW stuff]. But yeah, seems odd they wouldn't reprint the DOTM stuff, usually cheaper than getting someone to create something new. Starts Spring 2012 with '#80 and a half'. GI Joe ARAH started with a half issue too, on Free Comic Book Day. Could be a similar set up.

I wonder, for AA next year will they be able to swap the artists for the front covers? Like Wildman does the IDW continuity AA exclusive cover and Roche does the Classics AA incentive cover, maybe a cross-continuity set (especially if both are at AA next year)

Titan could do a replacement title after v3 #26 - then the title would be 12 issues ahead - & Titan can print the Marvel run from the start in the same order as James' IDW Transformers UK classics trades. In the CE format £2.99 76 pages US format.
IDW #81, Marvel reprints then #1+. IDW in order of the collected editions then from #0+.

I hope that Toaster will be repaired for the new comic. His apparent destruction in Time Wars was unfortunate, but have him a reason to miss out the Action Master storyline. He must return.
