The Ideal type of thing for the (gulp) 30th anniversary of the Movie.

Well to be fair most of the story is the same, but there's a few sequences I'd love to see illustrated (chiefly the ending where Ingestor/Unicron is destroyed by Optimus Prime's vengeful ghost while Rodimus Prime singlehandedly rescues both moons from Ingestor's stomach!!)

I dare say when I finish Another Time and Place, I could be convinced to turn my hand to this...

Just redownloaded the script and had a read through some of it last night...
Thoughts of an art style spring to mind, though I do feel I may need someone to colour it for me...Mr Marshall are you game?

Finished my re-read.
Still no love for Snarl, and it is a bit grim in places, and we appear to be a few Dinobots down by the end.
Definitely up for doing it after ATAP.

I keep meaning to read the script due to see where the truth ball falls between Flint Dille's "I actually wrote all of the movie and Friedman none of it" and Friedman's more recent "Err, no, I wrote all of the movie and I don't know who Flint Dille is".
My gut tells me the basic plot and structure is Friedman (after all, it's basically the same as the G.I. Joe film. Which also has someone claiming Friedman didn't really write it. He must have pissed off Sunbow somewhat rotten) but the generally snappy dialogue and streamlining is Dille's main contribution, but I really should check.

The version I have (april 1985, Ron Friedman) is a lot rougher dialogue wise; it tends to meander and lacks most of the snappy dialogue.

To be fair there are large chunks of dialogue that are identical and also Springer is a total bad-ass in it. Andy

So far as I can tell Friedman originated the script/storyline/plot. Dille rewrote it into the production version. Friedman deserves his on-screen credit.

It's wonderfully bonkers in places and Springer is so much more of a badass.
Which pleases me.

I've been rereading this thanks to some long car journeys. It... isn't very good, is it?
I think part of my problem is that it's more like fanfic that's stuck in a feedback loop obsessed with the past (each arc revolving around digging up an old villain to beat them again) rather than anything new. Well there is new stuff, but that's Scorponok's magic 'turn you genetically evil' key.
The best bit was when a handful of guys murder all the G2 cons like it's no big thing.

I think that's what it was aiming for really. It's an encore designed to wrap up the old rather than go anywhere new. It was about finishing rather than starting. It's a debate in itself whether that was the right or wrong choice.
Things had got so messy toward the end of the original run that part of me thinks ReGen1 would have been a more fun series if it had gone for writing new tales to slot into the earlier continuity. That said, I enjoyed the issues as they were immensely. Anything in that universe stirs my loins!

Oh I love it anyway, the sacred 332 is the one comic collection I would NEVER part with under any circumstance, but it was going a bit whiffy narratively speaking by the end.

I enjoyed Regen One for what it was. While I think G2 was a better capper for the Marvel run I still found much to enjoy in Regen One which is also probably why I found myself losing interest in the other IDW TF continuity as I was getting a version of 'my' Transformers again.

Once you get past that Regen One is not a continuation of Marvel as it was then back in the day it's a much more satisfying read in my opinion.
Not without missteps, I still feel Ratchet should have taken a more active role in Megatron's downfall. The loss of Wildman did take a wee bit of the specialness away. Enjoyed seeing Geoff back on interiors.

RG1 #100 came out 3 years ago - with multi Hotrod's in the story - this can tie in with the collected HB's in partworks. But Hotrod didn't show up in the gijoe crossover - but we have Rodimus MTMTE.
