I think a lot of the criticism levelled at MtMtE is of the "when are they goooiiiinng to find the Knights of Cybertron it's taking aaaaaaages" variety which would of course spell the end of the series. So, that's silly. As Ratchet said in the very first issue: "It's the journey not the destination". Ratchet is of course misquoting Topspin's Motto: "The Thrill is in the Journey"

Who would ever have thought a Jumpstarter could be so wise.

I wonder if Swerve is still suffering from the after-effects of Brainstorm's metafiction bomb, exacerbated by watching all that Earth TV.
Great issue, I loved it, but I can see why it might have wound some people up. Tee hee.

I think some of the hate comes from the fact so many readers of the Transformers comics have a very narrow definition of what a comic should be, especially a Transformers ones. TF vs GIJoe seems to have proved that considering how much love its gotten outside the fandom.
But leaving that aside there was a very british quality to the plot. I don't know if Americans really like their scifi flavoured that way. It's Red Dwarf and polymorphs and it wouldnt be out of place in Who, or a Douglas Admas or Terry Pratchett book.
In comparison most US scifi show would make an awful mess of the concept.
Having said all that I'm still not last issue worked that well even if this issue did make sense of it all.

I'm not sure why people are hating it. Nothing in it to get particularly annoyed about other than that the fanbots, sorry fembots, sorry 'female' Transformers are not going to be starring in it regularly. Just like the DJD or that group of incompetent 'Cons/Clowns . For me however it is going to be the last issue of MTMTE I will be picking up. For about a year now it has been lurching more and more towards the TFs = giant metal humans and less and less away from the TFs are an alien species and society and an exploration of that. I think in its earlier days it struck a superb balance between the two (as well as producing quirky sci fi ideas and snappy and humorous (where good) dialogue. For me it has lost a lot of that now and rather than whine about it every month or feel awkward expressing that here given that James is/was one of us (and I do think he is a good writer generally) and keeping silent I will just pass on it. I imagine I will probably still read it eventually in one form or another (library trades etc), but for me it is now no longer a compulsory purchase or an enjoyable read. The last two issues especially so. A shame really as it was the last IDW TF comic I had any serious interest in still reading as their new direction of recent years has left me less and less interested. No ill feeling though, it has had its moments and I enjoyed MTMTE for what it was and it was fantastic to see James get put onto a regular book as his talents do deserve.

Better than the last issue, but this story as a whole has been the weakest of the series; it seems pretty disposable though, so onwards and upwards with whatever is next. Personal hope: mtmte take yourself a little more seriously for a while.

I wouldn't write off anything that Roberts writes as being "disposable". There are seeds that will have been sown in this story that will pay off later...

Based on that preview, MTMTE is either about to crawl entirely up its own arse or this is going to be a work of genius and we'll finally return to the glory of Season 1 and the first half of Season 2.......

In the preview is the one in black Trailbreaker - because he is the only bot on the drew all in black. Doesn't say unless it does on page 4.

Rung is saying in the panel "Skids did try to stop them" but the way he looks - it looks like he is talking about someone not in the room. I know none of them are in the room because they are HAV's

Swerve's Autobot badge:I've just been and checked and I can't find any point in MTMTE when Swerve does have an Autobot badge on his shoulder. So the bullet has been in there a long time!

Twisty-turny, meta-tastic, post-modern, supremely clever and most importantly, this time, entertaining. Though my favourite bit was the old fashioned twist.
It reminds that when mtme sometimes seems to be a bit self-indulgent, I need to remember that James is a brave writer and IDW is brave to publish this and Hasbro is suprisingly brave to allow this to be published. When you do a dance this complicated there are bound to be a few missteps.

So good. So very, very good. Ridiculous right from the moment that I opened the cover... but also very damned important. This is how stories should be told.

Probably because it doesn't slavishly adhere to a G1 cartoon episode. Or feature wall-to-wall, characterless fighting. But then I bet they hated Combiner Hunters too, because, ew, girls. Yuck. And so on.

Well, that issue was staggeringly good! This is how stories should be told. Not every day! That way lies chaos. But when done occassionally, as here, truly masterful! Martin

He walks a very thin line that Roberts chap, but bloody hell is he good at it! Really enjoyed this issue - especially the pay off at the end.

I wonder if IDW might get some complaints? Going by Nov15 listing today. MTMTE #47 build up to #50 then for other cover says #47 LAST ISSUE - no it isn't. We don't wnat to see the words last issue & MTMTE anywhere near each other for another 10 years

My turn to have a "this didn't really work for me" issue. :-(

That was... definitely an interesting issue. Not quite up to the quality of the previous issue, but it's definitely building on stuff. And...
I liked the explanation for the Necrobot. Which actually leaves a few more other questions open - like, explain again how the Necrobot got all of that technology. And what he meant by the last of the light. I'm sure this'll be important at some point.
I loved also how it was Nightbeat, the logical one, that had issues. A nice resolution of his... interesting IDW history, I guess.
And some nice development of Megatron. Especially his attempts at "banter". I think this is the final bit of groundwork for making us actually feel bad for him when the DJD show up...

You're all mad, I thought 44 was the best in ages.
Actually I've found myself really enjoying the Megatron stuff despite being really skeptical at first (mostly due to the inevitable reset button that clearly hangs over that plot). I really could have done without Dark Cybertron just stopping the pacing of the book stone dead. I'm REALLY glad the Lost Light wasn't dragged back to Cybertron for a COMBINER WARS CROSSOVER EVENT OF THE SUMMER.
Though
Why does Skids never tell anyone what happened when he stepped through the spacebridge to Cybertutopia? Or did I miss something?
