Birmingham Informal Gathering 2: Saturday 5 November. Relax with friends, enjoy a local comic mart, drink responsibly. All welcome. WE WILL MEET DURING THE MORNING AT NEW STREET STATION. I can supply my mobile number to anyone that needs it, just in case. The Comic Mart:The comic mart is held at NAUTICAL CLUB, BISHOPSGATE STREET, off BROAD STREET, BIRMINGHAM B15 1ET and is about a mile's walk from New Street Station. Google Maps suggests this route: g.co/maps/xu83The mart opens at midday and is (usually) 1 entry. Hotel Suggestion:I've been trying to negotiate decent local hotel group rates but to no avail. However, Garry has suggested the ibis Birmingham Holloway Circus which is halfway between the train station and the comic mart, and quite central anyway. Price is 38 for the Saturday night for a standard twin room. So if you want to share it's 19 each. The hotel, according to the web site does have a bar! If we can all get rooms in the same place it means we can wile away the evening/night in the comfort and safety of the bar. Details: www.laterooms.com/en/p1301/pv20317a/hotel-reservations/199378_ibis-birmingham-holloway-circus-birmingham.aspxDirections: g.co/maps/vvw6Of course, the entire city is our oyster, so anything anyone wants to do should be fine.

ScotCon and this just a week apart? May be a little much for poor old Mart.
Graham, are you going to ScotCon this year? To miss it would be worth shedding a tear.

Fairly unlikely as I'm hoping to do Scotcon, and they're a touch too close, but a possibility!

Ah, the Etap. Already legendary in TMUK folklore.
Checking my shifts, I'm scheduled off that weekend, so looking more likely!

Here I am, thinking about toast. Now go back and re-read my post. Martin Apologies, Phil, a coincidence there! I used the name Mart to make up a rhyme. I didn't know a real mart was up in the air, And thought you'd misunderstood my post at the time. Martin

As for my attending That will be depending On whether I am clean-clocked By seeing Matt D and others in late Oct, And ScotCon in November's first fortnight. But I could be all right. I could always come up and back the same day, And for hotel would then not pay. But then again comics I have no wish to buy So I may let this meet pass me by.

Phil, the comic mart is just one of the places we'll be visiting during the day, not actually meeting there.
I am sure there's a bus that runs along Broad Street from the station though. Or there's the option of a taxi. Or piggyback rides.
(Though I'm not you could take my weight.)

I'm a broke cheapskate who gets his bus travel for free because I'm disabled :-)
How mobile are we intending to be? this could be a deal breaker for me?

One thing we must include as a place to stop, Is that wonderful second hand local bookshop! As you go through the door, it's like back in time, Where books and comics won't cost you a dime. Of course, if you're allergic to dust, An inhaler really is a must!
