Finally I had some time to have another play with Bruticus.
Up until now I had had a Swindle and Brawl as arms arrangement which I had felt was the pairing that gave the best arms in terms of looks and articulation. Annoyingly Swindle combiner joint has a loose swivel joint so it pretty much only hangs down. Its still looked good but couldnt do much which is annoying as hell as as I had it transformed its the most posable of the 4 arms. On the other hand Brawl looked good but has no elbow joint or rotation aside from the shoulder joint.
So I had a go at Blast Off which from photos and how it came out of the box I thought of as the worst arm and after experimenting it is for one reason, it's too big, which is as shame as its in scale with the rest of the figure it would look great and does have great articulation. Very Frustrating. So I moved on to Vortex and I came up with a short bulky arm with an elbow joint and good range of movement. Swindle was too long to be paired with it so I had to revert to Brawl as the other arm but suddenly Bruticus looks well balanced and massive and suddenly I'm liking it a whole lot more.

I have now seen the G2 box in person. It is very pretty.

Yes, the box is so pretty, that technically one is tempted to truly add Bruticus to their G2 collection...if one had a G2 collection.... :-)

The box is the absolute best part of the toy. Puts FP's G2 "Redux" to shame.
The box almost makes how bad the toy is forgivable. Almost. It certainly lessens the pain of it. (The fact that it's cheaper than the standard retail version, or the game accurate version also helps lessen the pain) Whoever designed the box absolutely understands and loves G2. Something I can't say the same for from FP, with G2 Redux.

Today, I was down in storage where my collection is, looking for my fiance's shoes, and thus had a chance to fiddle with Bruticus. He's very big, about twice the size of a G1 combiner. The rather elongated Blast off arm doesn't bother me. In fact, nothing bothers me.

After further fiddling I have decided Brawl is the weak link. THe rest either make a decent arm or stable leg. It makes on okay arm but with very limited range. But as a leg feels very unstable at least when paired with Blast Off. Which is a shame as I had worked out a way to shorten Swindles arm form. Seriously tempted to buy an extra Vortex and use both for arms and maybe buy a second Swindle too, in both cases to replace Brawl. Swindle would also maybe have its fists stolen and transplanted on to the two Vortex's

For some reason, I seem to be the only fan on the internet who actually likes the FOC toys as they are. Perhaps the economic crisis makes me greatful to a) have money for any TFs and b) have TFs at all. And seriously, we're getting great poseable TFs representing G1. I'm not saying they're perfect, and yes the price point has become ridiculous etc... but whatever...it's G2 Bruticus! Far as I'm concerned Hasbro needs to go into high gear here. Need more G1 TFs in updated form..FOC or classics... preferably more combiners...

And seriously, we're getting great poseable TFs representing G1. We have not gotten anything that represents G1 since Generations and RtS died so they could be replaced with yet more movie toys. (Chinese GDO aside. And only half of those are remotely decent representations) FoC do not represent G1. And they're ugly as hell.

There seems to have been a near-constant stream of 'G1' toys since around 2006 running alongside movie-type toys. I can't see what anyone is complaining about.

I have the SDCC one! got it at TRU, love the way you can swap the arms & legs around + it doesn't come with extra kibble, like fists, head & feet, as they all come as part of the figure

A pair of Swindles or a pair of Vortex' make the best arms, but I still don't like Brawl as a leg at least when partnered with Blastoff. Unfortunately yellow Swindle and yellow Onslaught clash a bit so Vorex's as arms is the way I'm going. Swindle and g2 Brawl as the infantry.

Well I just got my bruticus (thanks kapow!) I opted for the takara version but with the standard issue (purple) blastoff.
Man I love this guy, sure he has his faults but considering what has been done here, really nice work.
Im kind of thinking the g2 blast off would look good as well... Hmmmm

Hmmmm I further messed around with Bruticus and came up with what I think is the best combined form available. Vortex and Swindle are well balanced, both have elbow joints that rotate and well as the hinge joint. Blast off using the arms as a foot is insanely solid and better matches Brawl because he too has a proper foot. Some one on TFW pointed out Brawls arms can also be messed around with to form a variety of different heels after I took the photo, it's well worth experimenting, as I have them now its one of the most stable Transformers I have ever owned, which for a combiner is pretty spectacular.

Hah it is kind of fun, different poses for each hand is good but I wish they all shared the same design.

Just had a look at this. That is superb. Reminds me of something which I can't quite place, but even just in its own right that it fantastic. Looks far superior to the official alt-mode as far as I am concerned. Karl

Also the Generations data disk figures - they are tiny! And look kind of cheap. -Jim I would have still bought those data discs if the actual toy they are designed to interact with was actually sold in the UK!!! -Ralph

And You're paying for the cases. Oh wow, that Blaster (and Grimlock) do NOT look good! Go for big money now. The Grimlock I had and it wasn't great. Close but the just muffed a few basics up on it.

I saw Op and BB in the plastic today in Orbital, they both look rather nice. Certainly bigger than I had expected. Also the Generations data disk figures - they are tiny! And look kind of cheap. -Jim Saw them there on Thursday, I do actually quite likethem, but will wait till I'm in the states to see if I can find them. Also saw the FOC Ultra Magnus, So tiny, but it does look various kinds of good.
