Oh yeah, I saw Magnus as well and quite liked it, but not at £16.99 (both there and at FP, and probably not much beyond standard retail these days).
The Takara Blaster looks more promising than the Hasbro one. The play pattern would be the only reason I'd even consider the disks but they are horrendously overpriced for their size and complexity. I will be on the look out for the Legends at decent prices though.

C'mon Phil, he even has the same chest detailing (and I assume the reason he doesnt have yellow thighs is due to the mold sprue layout). I agree the stripe on the robot mode face is VERY similar to the Energon figure though, I am sure that's no coincidence

I cam see the chest stuff, yes, but the red of MOST OF THE TOY scream Magma Type/G2 to me rather than the activator

I must agree with Mr Blueshift. Animated Activators Goldfire Grimlock came out but the Goldfire repaint of the voyager toy did not when the line was cancelled. So this is probably a double reference in that respect.

On the Soundwave box we see the toy with an extra Optimus Prime style gun - how many times have we had items seen on the toy on the pack (not including colouring) but isn't on the final toy - or with Soundwave did the gun come with some of the toys?

I'm glad you resurrected this thread; I'm enjoying reading some positivity about the FoC figures. You know who you are! you all said nice things about it at some point! the evidence is here! There's even some nice things being said about Grimlock!
I have been slowly, erm, enjoying my Wreckers purchase over the last few days. I've had a good explore of everyone except Twintwist now, and am girding my loins for the transformation into Ruination. There's so much to love about these figures, but I'm not blinkered enough to ignore the failings too. One of the biggest is the Roadbuster/Swindle mould. Looks so good from the front, but turn him round and oh dear, he's just a shell! I'd love to see Impactor upscaled to Voyager size just as a non-combining one off. This should have been done as a knock off if anything, he's so close to being good. Topspin's shoulder pads put Judge Dredd to shame.
Still, it's all about evolution isn't it. Without this step we wouldn't be where we are now with CW. My FoC collection is an alternate universe set I'm in love with, including all the Planet X Dinobots. I'm really hoping Planet X continue their releases past the Dinos, but I'm wondering if FoC is a ship that's sailed now.

Bruticus and Ruination actually look really good alongside the CW combiners and at least in my preferred combination look more dynamic than Superion and Prime in a basic standing pose.
