I suspect that it was probably something to do with the initial activation that it didn't like. That has now been resolved courtesy of a friend's wi-fi connection and the work of three minutes. I shall be having a go tomorrow to see if I can get it to synch with iTunes on the laptop now that it is actually activated, and am hopeful that all will be well.
Really I should probably have just given up trying about two o'clock and waiting till I dondered over there. It would, in retrospect have been a much easier strategy.
Haven't bothered with their wi-fi. I've used the 3G so little whilst I have been away that I have allowance to burn on my mobile data subscription, so I am just using that instead. Am thinkin about getting a separate keyboard for travelling though. I'm not a fan of the virtual keyboard. It is the lack of key feedback.
I'm trying to upload a compilation album with different artists. One problem.... when I view my albums it splits up for each artist. Anyway to get the ipad to recognise it's one album without altering the artist id3 data
Having problems with the Twitter Ipad app. When I get DM's I no longer have the wee, er, light, pop up beside the 'Me' tab on the left to let me know I have one so now I often don't know I have one unless someone tells me. I can't see how to turn the light thingy back on in settings and Twitter's help page is no use. Anyone know what the problem is? It just started randomly, not after an update.

Meanwhile after a frustrating morning of trying to get the ipad to charge I finally gave in and tried to clean the socket. Used some loo roll wrapped round the edge of a bit of card. Very reluctant to be poking anything into connectors that small. Anyway it seems to have done the trick cos when I plugged the lead back in it started charging imeadiately.
No dirt or fluff came out when I cleaned it though, and there's no obviously grubby marks on the cleaning implement so I'm not sure what it was.
