I am going to have a much better swing at getting down for that this year - the recon report and photographic intelligence from last years show was very impressive.
As to whether we combine it with Swincon or have two separate events I am fairly Neutral Planet on that - what are other folks feelings?

I shall aim for the Lego show. It was fantastic last year. Annoyingly, as our annual leave runs Sep-Sep I will be unable to book time off until the 1st of October (if my job still exists) but I would go down overnight on Friday if need be. The 2012 show was amazing.
I am unable to committ to a 'formal' arranged Spring meet at this time due to this and that but I do hope to make it to the vicinity of the Death Fortress at some point long before October.

I haven't yet started the job that may or may not require approved leave. Mind, it's not far away so I may manage with just going for the weekend.

Looking at the eye watering transport costs. May rule me out. Will need to see if I can make savings elsewhere.

My girlfriend and I are looking at driving down to Swindon and back just for the one day. Any thoughts yet on which day for the show? We went Saturday last year but I believe Phil and Ralph ended going back on Sunday.

I did indeed go on both days as there was so much to see. Should things pan out, I will be doing the Saturday this year.

Touch and go on this. Still have not had annual leave signed off officially (it's only been verbally approved, I now find out) and I have no funds for tickets until after he 18th of this month by which time I fear the train prices may be through the roof. Erk.
Fingers crossed though! I want a Swindon pizza again. Oh, and Lego and stuff.

I've done the Megabus to Brum and back and I have to say their reputations as mobile plague fortresses is completely undeserved. If the train prices are prohibitive, you can bus it- it takes maybe an hour longer than the train on a journey of 300-odd miles and is less than half the price if you book a couple of weeks before departure. National Express is similarly priced.

A bus all the way from Edinburgh to Swindon is just not do-able for me.

Good man!
Do we want to advance book our tickets this time when we're sure of numbers? And book our table at the pizza restaurant?

Last year, wasn't the queue to pay on the door shorter than the queue to pick up prepaid tickets?

Cheapest return fare now at £136! We'll see how it is at payday. May be too expensive at this rate.

I definitely have to declare that I will not be able to make it. Some necessary house-related expenses mean that I am not going to have the money to afford the train tickets unfortunately. Ah well, if they have the show next year I should be in a better financial position to make it down for that one.

I thought I had found a cheap option via Megabus, they do a £7 ticket from Birmingham to Edinburgh, but not Ed to Bir. And the only one from Birmingham is 6.20am so to early to get there from Swindon. Still may be of use to Nick.

I have been breaking my head trying to figure out how I would get home for a weekend visit without breaking the bank. So far, the best deal I've found is Flybe up and Megabus back down. Train fare is £59 each way no matter when I travel or how far head I try to book. Lovely.
Brum to Swindon isn't all that far or particularly expensive, I'm relieved to say.
