Last time I looked in The Works there was nothing. Sounds like I need to go hunting!
I recommend Myth Makers above all else, it's an excellent reading.

Popping back this afternoon to see if I missed anything.
The Sensorites audiobook is tops. William Russell could read my shopping list and I'd be entertained.

'And the Cave Monsters' (Silurians) also obtained! As well as a bloody big cardboard TARDIS with six 11th Doc audio only stories in it.
Much of what was there yesterday had already been cleaned out!

Another check this evening. Much of the stock has gone. The one no bugger seems to want is The Sea Devils. Don't seem to have shifted a single copy of that! Shame. I bought the download of that last year and it is tops.

Can you bring them down on a data stick for me?

My data stick is old and does not have enough memory for these (4-6 cd's each). I will have to borrow a bigger one from elsewhere in the team.

The Aztecs audiobook was fantastic. Gripping stuff, just as good as the telly serial. By contrast, I am finding The Myth Makers very hard going so far. The text is trying far too hard to be funny and Omega's reading is rather one note and overbearing. I don't think Thorne is a good match for the material.

Feck me, The Myth Makers audiobook is hard going (but then so is the tv serial soundtrack). Where is the dramatic through-line? And it's hard to tell half the time who is talking as Thorne doesn't bother to differentiate half of them from the narrator. Another hour to get through yet!
Based on TMM and The Gunfighters, I don't think Cotton knew how to write for Doctor Who at all.

I liked the surviving Soundtrack of the The Myth Makers, but I think a lot of that is down to what one can hear of the cast's performances. Sounds like it doesn't weather the removal of that element to well.
I must nip back to The Works come payday, and see if I can pick up a few more of the Target audios - need to decide which of the three I've got - "Sea Devils", "Doomsday Machine" and "The Aztecs" - as a starting point for listening.

re: THE MACRA TERROR serial soundtrack. The initial CD release used the Colin Baker narration from the tape release (moved around slightly in places). When the Lost TV Episodes cd sets were punted out, The Macra Terror was redone from scratch with new narration written and performed to bring it in line with other releases. I did want to hear it but without buying a boxset of stories I already had. I see it has now been released separately as a download for £4. Hurray. I must give it a spin. The previous narration was rather lacking in comparison to later releases of missing stories. www.audiogo.com/uk/doctor-who-the-macra-terror-tv-soundtrack-ian-stuart-black-gid-1011234-Ralph

EB2013 is the code to get a fiver off at Audiogo on basket contents if £20 (all cd or all download) until the 2nd of April.
Currently halfway through the Target audiobook of FURY FROM THE DEEP. Not bad, though it does lack the claustrophobic madness of the telly serial and does expose how much of a prick some of the guest characters are when you take the performances of the original actors away. Also rather does expose it to be one of the ones where Simon 'minimal effort' Power's efforts at sound design are well, minimal. Many times, the sterling David Troughton is shouting about THE POUNDING HEARTBEAT to the sound of nothing. But still enjoying it. I would cut Mr Power more slack if he didn't talk bobbins about his amazing sound effects in DWM previews every month! He often ignores big honking bits of text talking about sound, but never misses the opportunity to put in his stock library 'man walks on gravel and turns on his heel' effect. I am being a bit harsh though. Most audiobooks do just have the odd spot effect and what he does is perfectly fine for this sort of thing. I suppose I am just spoiled by the Big Finish 'wall of sound' approach.
Generally though, now that I am getting into them more, the Target audiobooks are really rather good and are excellent value at money even at full price as most are around 4-7 hours long! It's also rather nice that the Target range is still commercially viable in this day and age. Looking at the Audiogo site I was surprised how many have been done. At this rate, it looks like the attempt is to have audio versions of the entire range. Hurray!

I bought The Sensorites at the Works! Black Orchid was also there but the case and cover was smashed to bits. That was it I have scoured all the nearby Works since this offer was announced, and that is all I have found! Does anyone else have anything near them?

DOCTOR WHO AND THE CAVE MONSTERS is bloody brilliant. Great reading of a great novel. Amusingly, Simon 'minimum effort' Power can't even be arsed with spot effects this time. Reading is so good though that I did not care.

AND THE DOOMSDAY MACHINE was brilliant. Halfway through AND THE SPACE WAR.
Damn it. I am now hooked on the Target audiobooks and now must add them to the piles and piles of Whodios that I get from Big Finish. Ralph needs more money. And more hours in the day.
