Ploughing through my Big Finish CDs! Onto McGann now, not really 'feeling' him yet to be honest, but I'll give him time, I have friends who swear by him. Storm Warning was cracking towards the end but the first half, as the Doctor just stood around loudly announcing everything going on was really bad!
It's interesting how they all came out of the Audio-Visuals. Why did we never see any Transformers fan audios back in the day? After all, Ladybird tapes were more popular (well, more available) than the cartoon!

I washed the taste of Minuet in Hell from my mind with Doctor Who Unbound: Sympathy for the Devil. Cracking stuff! Definately going to get the sequel!

Sympathy for the Devil is ok but I could never get into the usually mighty David Warner as the Doctor. He just sounds bored. -Ralph

It is, I've been umm-ing over it for a while. Not bitten yet, maybe in the new year (it's been that price for a while, so I don't think there's a rush)

Invaders from Mars was like every Gatiss story I've heard so far - the first half is utter confusing rubbish, the second half was fun and entertaining.
Listening to Seasons of Fear now - brilliant stuff! My mind was blown as it clicked who the villains were just towards the end of part 3!

Gray-Lie! Gray-Lie! It is almost time to begin the transferal.
Seasons of Fear is marvellous, there is such verve to the whole thing. The reveal of the monsters is indeed wonderful. I remember giving a little shout of joy when they made their appearance. I think it ranks amongst my favourite stories from the early McGann seasons - along with Embrace the Darkness (very disturbing when listened to through headphones in the dark) and Chimes of Midnight.

Embrace the Darkness is okay, but so far it has suffered from Big-Finish-itis (the start is mostly unintelligable to me, there are lots of characters with voice modulators)

Dear Royal Mail: thanks for losing 80 worth of Whodios. F*ck sakes! -Ralph Oh god, really? D: 3rd missing package in 3 months. Thankfully, BF are cool with sending replacements once the standard 14* days are up and I have download copies in the meantime but it's infuriating as it was my present to myself for my first pay in new job and it would give a nice bumper pile to work through over Winter in addition to the monthly releases. If it happens again, I'll stop ordering CD copies. -Ralph *Royal Mail won't admit to fucking up until 14 working days have passed.

Been listening to 'The First Doctor Boxset', an episode a night, and it's fantastic. Well worth it for those who like Hartnell historicals. BF Chrimbo sale: bigfinish.com/Big-Finish-Christmas-sale-Ralph

New Big Finish purchases:
The Gathering Full Fathom Five Neverland Zagreus
Full Fathom Five and Zagreus are still winging their way to me, so it's a toss up between The Gathering and Neverland as to which to listen to next

Not heard The Gathering. Full Fathom Five and Neverland are quite fun. Zagreus...I pity you. The most terrible Big Finish of all though remains The Next Life. That caused me physical pain.
Currently 2 episodes into Lurkers At Sunlight's Edge aka The Lovecraft KO Story. It's not bad though suffers quite a bit from coming directly after two absolute barn stormers.

Full Fathom Five just popped through my letterbox, together with Winter for the Adept, which I completely forgot I'd bought.

Winter for the Adept is worth it alone for hearing Londo from B5 clearly confused by what he's in! Also: the bit with the piano.

Full Fathom Five is wonderful, constantly wrong-foots audience expectations and has an absolutely wonderful ending. The Next Life on the other hand is not - the disappointment I felt about that play was truly crushing.
This weekend I have started Project:Destiny, the first of the Big Finish plays from my current subscription. Excellent stuff with some great performances from the cast - Stephen Chance especially is always a welcome return - and the first couple of cliffhangers are cracking. Looking forward to hearing the remaining episodes over the next couple of evenings.

I never really got into the Project plays, but then I generally hate 'shadowy government agency' stuff. Some of the twists in the second one were nice though.
I think Seasons of Fear is the favourite of the ones I've been listening to recently. Not just the plot, it is one of the few which really uses audio design to its advantage, the use of the incidental music 'sting' with the dialogue was incredible. Is it worth getting the soundtracks on cd, they seem to be cheap. Are any others any good though?

Here's a tip - dont It is pish. There's about 20 mins worth of story in it, and most of the first half is almost indescipherable due to a baffling experiment in showing the same event again and again from different perspectives at differents points in time. The same banal event. Oh god.

There was tons of secrecy about it before it came out. Story details were vague, the cover and cast listing were kept under wraps until release. Then it came out and folk just went: "Eh?"
