DWM mentions a big 20th anniversary of BF DW story. On the one hand it appears to have everyone in it. On the other hand it has the same writers who appear to do 99% of BF's input these days. Good writers but some diversity of voices please! It is becoming increasingly tiresome not to mention odd given how much stuff BF churns out every month. EDIT: Up on the BF site too. www.bigfinish.com/news/v/doctor-who-the-legacy-of-time-Ralph

Hmmm, it looks fairly enticing, but like you say some new writers are needed. And I'm not sure about all the writers there, either, some of them more miss than hit in my (limited) experience.
Definitely up for some 6th Doctor / Charley though, they were great together! I hope it really is Charley as well and not that doppelganger from the latter part of their pairing. That was a terrible idea.

Yes, other than getting Solitaire about the time I started getting into Big Finish I hadn't paid much attention to them until recently. In recent weeks I've listened to The Anachronauts and The Scorchies, and both were great. The other four I have waiting for me are: The Forbidden Time The Jigsaw War The Apocalypse Mirror The Sleeping City I have been through all of these now, every one a winner! The Jigsaw War particularly sticks in the mind, though. And Frazer Hines is just amazing in everything he's in.

Grabbed a few things in the 4th Doctor sale; the first 4 season 5 releases as I have some trust in those writers and the one cowritten by Louise Jameson from season 3.

Grabbed a few things in the 4th Doctor sale; the first 4 season 5 releases as I have some trust in those writers and the one cowritten by Louise Jameson from season 3. I just glanced back at this and it reads like I don't want to try new writers which is not what I meant - the other options were all Fitton / Dorney / Briggs / Barnes, and while they've all written stuff I've enjoyed they've tended to disappoint lately. More new blood please!

Yes some new blood is required. Nowt against the regular writers but variety is also good.
Recently heard the 3rd set of The War Doctor. It's ok but not a patch on the first 2 and the need to have not-Servalan in every episode is becoming a bit limiting to the series by this point. Also having the constant underscoring of the War Doctor's theme is becoming as silly as how 'I am the Doctor' seemed to be used every few seconds at times during the 11th Doctor's run on telly!
Hopefully the 4th set closes the series on a high.

Aaaah, more good news! I was thinking just the other evening that I'd like some more stand-alone, less high-stakes stories for McGann again.

Just finished the 3rd of the 4 War Doctor sets. Enjoying the series, and will be sad to see it end.

I was going to ask how Lucie Miller got better, but it looks like BF have done the sensible thing of setting the stories before her death. I will put away my pitchfork.

I was glad to see that as well. I've been avoiding those Sara Kingdom Companion Chronicles where the blurb for them imply that she has survived in some way. Maybe they're good (they probably are!) but undoing a death like that always feels off to me.

The Sara Kingdom CC's are the best they've done in that line. Really original and interesting.

I had a feeling they would be really good! I loved The Anachronauts. Maybe I need to get over that and check them out (next time they're on special offer)...

The thing is, I can't say why they're good without spoiling what makes them good. All I can say is that they deal with the possible return of Sara Kingdom in a way that I thought was both clever and did not negate the end of THE DALEKS' MASTERPLAN.
The first three CC's she is in form a trilogy with the framing story so need to heard in release order.
In general, I thought the CC's were BF's most consistent DW range for series 1-8. They returned in a 'boxset' format which I don't feel has been as strong though I can't quite put my finger on why.

*opens DWM* *screams*
The next vinyl is 5th of October at HMV. Travelling that day so no chance. A deep sigh for limited editions. Burns wants the complete set but no way now! I care not for how limited they are. I just think they are nice collector items.
Another one at Sainsburgeries on October 19th.

What are the vinyls? I hope they're not in the pathetically small quantities as before. Not getting that Tennant one really turned me off getting any more.
I hope they are doing a vinyl of Exile to tie in with the female Doctor. With a warning label on it saying "we did it first but please don't listen as it's terrible"

Their approach is very well thought through, the stories are very good in the way they blend the atmosphere of that period of the show with some interesting SF/Fantasy ideas and the performances are absolutely stand-out. Definitely worth the while - they are perennial relistens for me. Karl

I hope the new production numbers are more reasonable! -Ralph

1250 of Tennant HMV release (750 last time).
2000 of Tom Sainsburgeries release (1500 last time).
Source: digging through BF replying to queries on their FB page. They also mention looking into international releases (outside UK) in the future as well as something from another range.

I was at HMV at opening time but there was only one which was grabbed (and that was also the store BF decided to do their livestream from!) It seems HMV moved most of their stock to the Birmingham store! Thankfully ebay prices are slightly less insane now
