Age of Ultron #1 - why did I even pick this up? Am I so taken in by shiny things? It fulfils all preconceptions about a Bendis cross-over. Bugger-all happens for far too many pages in a very nicely rendered way which seems like a waste of a good artist's time.
Avengers #7 is a bit more diverting with some clever set-up and nice call backs to the New Universe. Still not completely sold, it might not survive my next cull.
Iron Man #7 is quite good fun and of interest to UK TF fans for more than one reason.
All New X-Men #8 continues to defy my expectations of a Bendis team comic; I'm really enjoying it. If it were on a normal monthly schedule it might be a little bit frustrating but fortnightly suits the pacing, he's playing the concept well and seems to me to have a good grasp of the characters. It's funny that UXM is reading much more like a stereotypical Bendis book (but at least has nice Bachalo art).

X-Factor 259 Read this if you're a Longshot/Shatterstar fan. PAD has a stab at explaining the relationship between them and does really well.

Shockingly, the Beano is back to being a proper comic and has essentially copied what the Dandy was before the printed version went down. Loads of strips, proper variety and quite amusing. The pish appears to have been shuffled off to Beano Max.
Commando featured a Cam Kennedy reprimt recently. Gorgeous art.

The Beano has dropped 50p from the price along with the covermount. It is now just a Proper Comic being sold on its content again!
Conversely, Commando put up its price by 50p (!) a while ago apparently to add a gatefold back cover. I can live without it. Still a title I enjoy the occasional purchase of. I tend to dip in and out of it when the mood takes me.
Only other thing I am reading currently is TF Regeneration One. Don't think my monthly comic reading has been this low...ever!

Points to Uncanny X-Force 12 for doing something decent with Spiral. I'd not really got into the title too much so far but that was good

Read Nightcrawler #1. Didn't think it was very good. The thinnest of story and I failed to detect much of a series premise. The main character tells us he is back from the dead but not how or why or even how he died. The lack of plot made this stick out like a sore thumb.
It's perfectly readable, looks great and is not an awful comic as such but it's a poor #1 and there's nothing to make me want to read any further. Especially at a $4 price-point.

The back from the dead was done in a recent X-Men story.
I liked it.
Down to just two monthly titles now: X-Factor and X-Force on the grounds that they're unlikely to be reprinted. X-Factor feels decent and different.
Panini it's Spider-Man, X-Men, Avengers, Mighty World of Marvel and Wolverine & Deadpool

Comixology have a sale on IDW Ghostbusters so thought I would try the ongoing series (which seems to renumber itself after 16 issues as Ghostbusters 2013-, confusingly).
Absolutely love it. Written with real verve and wit that captures the original film (with a touch of the cartoon) absolutely perfectly. Many proper belly laughs and chuckles (including the best sly filthy joke I have seen in a while which had me damn near piss myself in a cafe). The art is wonderfully expressive in a Chew-like way and the colours are nice and bright.
Proper all-ages stuff: action and adventure with gags without falling into the DARK MATURE SERIOUS or BLAND EVENT HORIZON curses of many licensed books. Even the filthy gag is very subtle.
I can pass on the minis and whatnot but will stick with the main series I think.

Decloaking... Evening all. Blimey, haven't been around here in a day or two. Love what you've done with the place etc etc. Ahem. Dunno if this is news, but Death's Head makes a cameo in Uncanny X-Men Special #1 this month: Anyway, I'm going to try and be around a bit more. Mx

Yes, I read Paul O'Brien's review the other day and thought I might check it out. Our favourite freelance peacekeeping agent has been busy lately. Gillen used him well in Iron Man, a run I've been really enjoying and which wears Many marvel UK influences.
Furman & Delbo fans might also like to note Brute Force are guest starring in next week's Deadpool bi-annual. Though I would suspect as cannon-fodder, so could be one to avoid.

Been waiting on that Deadpool comic. Furman was genuinely pleased to hear that Brute Force had been brought back when we told him.
I'm not a huge Deadpool fan but I will pick it up anyway.

Thor Issue 1.
Pish. Avoid like the plague, decompressed bollocks of the highest order and the new Thor does not even appear in the fucking issue.

Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's Multiversity: Pax Americana.
Watchmen but with the Charlton characters is the easy synopsis, but damn is it a book worth reading. There is always something special when those two get together.

So I picked up Uncanny Avengers Issue 1 - I have a soft spot for the Counter Earth, The New Men and the High Evolutionary.
It was very much a setting the stall out for the arc and the team dynamics, I like the slightly snarky Vision we are met with here, as Rogue being the heart of the team. Great art from Daniel Acuna. Interesting portrayal of Sabretooth which reminds me of his residency in the Xavier school following Wolverine's departure. Shame it took so long to see the High Evolutionary. Will stick with this for the next issue, but it has better pick up the pace.
Multiversity Guidebook - a nice tale and a handbook, what more do you want. Plus, written by Grant Morrison. Thoroughly enjoyable if a little pricey.

A moment's silence please: Today Phil bought what is likely to be his last new US Floppy, X-Force 15.
All the titles left on my order have now finished.

Digital, trades and Panini repaints.
MIGHT buy Secret Wars in Floppy but that'll need a trip back to the shop to order.

I'm struggling to get through Age Of Ultron. Not because it is dense (there is actually very little reading in it) but because it is hyper-shit. Some of Bendis' worst work...and yet I really like his X-Men run!

Doesn't help it's some of the most lifeless Bryan Hitch art I have seen.
Nice rubble though.

Others need to experience it's agony.
The 2nd is worse than the first, so disappointed as it had Cary Nord artwork and had Nightcrawler in it. A double letdown.
