If I remember correctly Mario Allstars also has the classic Super Mario World on it. This game is one of my favourite Mario games of all time and still holds timeless appeal to me after all of these years.

I don't believe the first editions of Allstars had Mario World on them. I think that was added later on. Might be wrong though

Gav's correct. The original version contained SMB1, both 2's and 3. Then after a while it was updated to include Mario World. Interestingly Allstars SMW was slightly updated to include a different sprite for Luigi.
I'll also be picking it up. I have them all on Game Boy and have the Allstars cart, but the extra book etc appeals. I liked the original DKC, and DKL's 1 and 3 so am interested in DKC Returns (may suggest as an xmas pressie). Will get Kirby. I keep almost pre-ordering Goldeneye but can't shake the feeling they'll have ballsed it up, so am waiting to see how it turns out.

Hooray! I'm the same with Goldeneye. I don't know how well it'll hold up against todays shooters, which are already boring me to death. The golden Classic Controller is nice though.

Goldeneye is a legend amongst shoot-em-ups. If it is indeed coming out on the virtual console then I may be forced to purchase it.
Going back to the Allstars debate - I never knew that it was originally released without SMW on it. My copy of the game has SMW on it but then mine is the one that came packaged with a SNES console so that might have something to do with it.

I think the original Allstars was also packaged with the SNES for a while. Not sure, but the Allstars+World one was definitely a pack-in title at some point - I only discovered a few years back it had a standalone release as well.
Goldeneye is coming, but it is a remake rather than a VC release:

The new Goldeneye game will be made by Activision? I think I will give that a miss then. A few years ago EA Games (when they had the Bond license) discovered that fans still considered Goldeneye to be far superior to ALL of their Bond games that were made afterwards. As a result they released Goldeneye Rogue Agent to try and cash in on the franchise. Fans were pissed off that EA were trying to do this and they were even more pissed off when it turned out the game was worse than some of EA's other Bond games.
Now Activision (the current holders of the Bond license) are doing the same. When will they ever learn that you should never try and cash in on the franchise of an all time great game just because it pisses all over your own attempts over a decade after the original was released!

That's a better price than I'd expected, I'd have said somewhere in the £25 area.
Hmmm...pre-order. Might do it!

Yeah I found that particularly freaky. Thank goodness I've sworn off collecting Nintendo peripherals and add-ons eh?

It does look good. Having read some reviews and seen the various trailers I've decided to give it a go. Should arrive tomorrow.

I've also noticed that Activision are also releasing a new Bond game for the consoles and I suspect this one will not appear on the Wii. This is why they are releasing Goldeneye on the Wii and if this is the case I suspect the game may be rushed because the company would have spent much of their time to finish the new Bond game and gave very little time over to this remake. Of course, I hope I'm wrong on this but only time will tell.

Different developers. Both games are published by Activision but Wii Goldeneye is developed by Eurocom whilst Blood Stone (PS360) is by Bizarre Creations. Goldeneye and Blood Stone are also available for the DS from a third company (n-space).

There's some Wiiware demos on the shop channel at the moment: Furry Legends, Jett Rocket, ThruSpace and Zombie Panic in Wonderland. I've had trouble trying to download them the past few days but seems OK now. My Wii doesn't work all to well. And i can do nothing with it at the moment cause my TV is broken. Has anyone played mario galaxy? I played it for a week and got really ill of motion sickness some days after. ^_^ Mario Galaxy's great, though for some reason I haven't picked up the sequel yet. What's specifically wrong with your Wii? Discs not loading? In Gol..den..gol..den. goldeneyyye news, I've not had had a chance to play multiplayer yet but I've just finished the single player game - just the first difficulty setting mind you. Great stuff, I'm ready to go again - although things got a bit tough towards the end and protecting Natalia was a pain in the arse. Gamewise I had a problem with the controls. Now this isn't going to be a problem everyone has, but I really hate dual-stick controls. I thought the wiimote/nunchuck setup would be better..but not really. There's a wide range of controllers supported and various different setups available, but a control scheme along the lines of the N64 game would be great. Maybe there is one and I just haven't found it. The best I could find WAS one of the wiimote/nunchuck setups: somewhat embarrassingly it's the one for beginners and irritatingly it's the one setup that doesn't allow strafing. With this setup the wiimote basically provides extra buttons rather than being used to aim, whilst holding Z on the nunchuck lets you aim a bit more precisely. With reviews I'd skimmed past any mention of the story because I wanted to be surprised by the changes that had been made. I won't say much, but Trevelyan's new motivation was a letdown.

D'oh! After clearing the game and struggling in a few instances where things would have been easier with the ability to strafe, I find that it is actually possible with my chosen control method. Speaking of control methods, the Wii Zapper setup looks like it would work a treat, but I don't have a zapper.
One thing I really like in the game is using the nunchuck to subdue enemies - feels very natural. There are a few other instances in the game where you have to do motions, which should feel like tacked-on-wave-the-wiimote-about moments but actually work quite well.

I'm not a fan of dual-stick controls either which is why I avoided most PS2 and XBox action games. If I do decide to get this game I'll probably also use the Wiimote setup.

Oh my. Multiplayer is marvellous both split-screen and online. Various modes and options to play about with. Online (which has extra modes) my performance varied, sometimes I was picking up all sorts of awards (stayed alive longest, longest distance kill...) other times I got slaughtered and would pick up the lesser awards (least kills etc). Plenty of different modes to try out and great fun.

No new games to report on, I'm just waffling on about Goldeneye again...
So I enjoyed the single player and splitscreen multiplayer is great fun, but there are some problems with online multiplayer.
One big problem is levelling up. The more you play, the more you unlock. Three of the game modes are locked until you reach a certain level - the next mode I can unlock requires me to be at level 25 (I'm a level 9). To be fair it's annoying rather than a problem, I can still play 7 of the 10 online modes but the other thing you get to do as you reach certain levels is upgrade your weapons and abilities. So this may mean just having a better weapon or improving the accuracy or power of your current one. You can also upgrade yourself so you're tougher to kill.
Now this does encourage repeated play but it does rather put new players at a disadvantage. I haven't been playing a lot and now I'm having trouble against players who are level 20somethings. I'm also thinking anyone who gets this game for xmas is going to be completely screwed because they will be going up against players with better weapons, better armour and who know the maps well - they'll probably have unlocked proximity mines by then too (level 50something).
These past few days however, I've noticed a bigger problem - your kills aren't always counted. It varies but I'd say I get around 8-10 kills per match - nowhere near enough to win, but it allows a steady levelling up. At the weekend though I'd notice lower numbers than I thought I'd got: 2-3 and on one occasion a 0. So this morning I decided to keep track myself. My first game: standard free-for-all-conflict, I counted 10, yet at the end the stats said 3. Next up was a game of Team Conflict. The team I was on lost, but I thought 'it must have been close' because I'd clocked up 16 kills by myself - I was rather chuffed with that. Only when the stats screen came up I was awarded just 4(!!!) kills. What?
Like I said, it's only something I've noticed the past few days so I'm hoping it's a temporary problem, but if it isn't sorted I may just give up with online.

These past few days however, I've noticed a bigger problem - your kills aren't always counted. That sounds more like a lag problem to me. When you see people dying, are you sure they actually die, or just that your computer thinks that is what is happening?

Well I suppose it could be. But if it is just my Wii showing them keeling over and fading from existence when infact they're doing something else, I'm surprised none of them fire back and leave me wondering who's just shot me. I'd also expect jerky gameplay, but bar one occasion last week, I've found online play to be silky smooth. I'm not saying you're wrong - perhaps a side effect of keeping things so smooth is that the game will display incorrect character animation. If that is the case... well, that's still a big problem.

Game are selling the new Metroid game for £19.99 if you buy it with anything else in the store. The cheapest game I could find was Mad World for 2.99.

That's a great price for Metroid.
If anyone's after Goldeneye it's going to be part of Amazon's black Friday week at 11:00 today - although they haven't announced what price it'll be.
They are also going to have Wii's at 60% off at some point this week.
Going back to Goldeneye, I should say that whatever the problem was with online, it's now sorted itself out. Hooray!

Anyone played Sonic Colours yet? Doesn't look too bad for a modern sonic game.

You can get a 1 level demo of the DS version from the Nintendo channel. Seemed OK, I might pick it up (not sure which version) at some point.
