Try living in my world where the compulsion to read anything called Secret Wars will be overwhelming.

Oh yes, I saw this on twitter last night. Hopeful that Brian gets a cameo in there but nice to see Faiza back. Andy

I am looking forward to PAD's Maestro mini series though.
PAD on Hulk is always good value.

Only just heard about this upcoming event, having recently get back into a bit of Marvel action with the fantastic Uncanny Avengers.
I'm a bit worried this is going to be massive reboot, DC style. I've always preferred the 'sliding' continuity of Marvel.

The run up to it, over he last few years, has been fab though.
Get hold of the Jonathan Hickman Avengers volumes. Start with New Avengers v1, then Avengers v1. The way it all comes together is quite superb.

Is it just those two titles or is there other stuff worth reading before hand?

I've always preferred the 'sliding' continuity of Marvel. Indeed. It's why I have no emotional attachment to the DC Universe as a whole (despite enjoying many of their comics in the distant past). -Ralph

Those titles are the main ones and seemingly tell the whole story, certainly the heroes attempting to stop what happens.
Avengers World 17-21 fills in some detail in a gap in a story (Avengers world v4: Before Time Runs Out)
However All New X-Men (reprinting in Panini's Essential X-Men), and the Spiderverse event (about to be reprinted in Panini's astonishing Spidermen) may also play into how the Multiverse has ended up so broken.

I've already got the Spider-verse book ordered on Amazon and might have some New Xmen on comixology, but have no idea how recent it is.
I'm not in a huge rush for Secret Wars so hopefully I can find the Avengers stuff at a reasonable price.

I'm concerned over what Marvel are going to do at the end of it, even if the journey may be fun. Are we going to end up with a movie-verse style continuity where vast collections of stories have been swept away?

Hopefully they wont do anything stupid. Maybe some kind of soft reboot that somewhat reflects the MCU (though I assume thats probably been the state of play for the last few years) but doesnt do away with the history.

The last two issues of Time Runs Out, Avengers 44 & New Avengers 33, are out this Wednesday. Which order should they be read in?

Time has Run Out
In the end it didn't matter which of Avengers 44 or New Avengers 33 you read first. A44 is the battle on Earth with Cap finally finding Tony and a surprise reappearance from the missing Captain Universe while NA33 is the Doom/Molecule Man/Doctor Strange story packed with confusing explanation. Both end in a similar place from different points of view.
Either way, Secret Wars NEXT WEEK. Actually tomorrow if you're getting FCBD#1
I'll be sticking to the core title. Anything tie in can wait till Panini getthere though how the F*** they're going to jump from where they are to there I don't know.

Fails as an issue #1. Who was doing what to where and when was not clear then there was a big cliffhanger about a thing. Apparently I should have read some other comics first.
