Main series not interesting me at all and I might drop it. 'Renew Your Vows' and 'Spider-Verse' are OK and I picked up Spider-Island for the Spider-GirlWoman bonus story. I've not read anything else.

While stuck in bed today I re-read SW 2015 so far.
I still think issue 1 is a grave mis-step, and should have been an Avengers issue. But if you read 0 right before it it makes much more sense.
2-6 aren't a bad story, I just don't think it's Secret Wars. Very little battling involved. There's a subtitle on an early issue, God Emperor Doom, which is much more appropriate.
Looking forward to the next issue now.

It says they needed an extra issue to tell the story - then states at the bottom that page count was cut www.comicbookdb.com/title.php?ID=4782756 pages #1-2 40 pages #3-5 36 pages #6 28 pages #7 ? #8 If they all should have been 56 pages then 96 pages less for #3-7.

8 looks like it's got extra pages, it's a £2.99 book on Comixology rather than the usual 2.49

No idea. At least when it hits Panini-vision it will be powered through quickly.

i buy the Panini essential x men and wolverine and deadpool, im hoping they wont dwell on secret wars too long as it seems to be a shocking event.

4 issues max per title each running 3 of the limited series. Can see Avengers and Mighty World of Marvel taking longer. See the Panini thread where we've discussed this already

We've had two attempts at a Hickman crossover event, this and Infinity. Neither quite work. Infinity and it's crossovers don't make sense to read bythemselves you have to jump between issues. Here the central story is a lot more coherent but we've got towards the end and there's new characters walking on stage to oppose Doom left right and centre. Should have been more of them shown in earlier issues. I like Hickman as a writer: I thought Secret Warriors was waaaaay under rated and his Avengers was superb. I've enjoyed the core limited series to this tale more as it's gone on BUT the story isn't the core limited series of a major event. It's almost the anti World War Hulk: that was too much fighting, this is far too much talking and not enough hitting people! * It's also not been obvious which of the myriad other titles you need to read, it's still not but I think at the end it might be easier to say you need to read this, cos it contributes to the major storyline. In an odd way I'm not 100% sure any of them do: stuff happens which causes the people in the titles to fight Doom (and/or die) * Which leads us to an interesting question which I think I will ask elsewhere....

I'm on month 4 of the Secret Wars tie-ins. Do... any of them actually tie in to Secret Wars? Seriously? It seems like more of an opportunity for a series of self-contained 'what if' issues. The thing about these alt-u events is the fun in seeing what the characters turn out like if X or Z happens in a consistent world. There's about a dozen X-Men tie-ins each with a different X-Men team in their own universe WHICH I GUESS IS PART OF BATTLEWORLD MAYBE? I'm enjoying the Deadpool crossover most of all, and that ties in to the wrong Secret Wars!!

Done.
End would have been much much better if it had come out in time. Initial reaction was "so what" but 24 hours thinking makes me think it might be somewhat better than that. It might be it needs a complete re-read

Grabbed the full run from Ebay (the action-figure variants) and read it through today.
It's a decent story in it's own right once you get past the first issue being a god-awful first issue. Could have done with having a few more of the events happening in this book, as a couple come out of nowhere being that they were taking place in some of the spin-off books.
Should never have been called Secret Wars though the nods to the original are slight at best
Very nice art though.

I'm reading on the app which is 6 months behind, but the advantage is I can read all the horrible crossovers and not have to pay any extra. Seriously, barely any of them relate to Secret Wars. I'm up to issue 5 and it feels like what everyone wanted to do is write self-contained alt-u stories (which is FINE but not what the event was set up to do). Nothing's cohesive.
Issue 5 of Secret Wars is just Doom and Molecule Man telling each other stuff they know.

That's what I thought after I picked up Issue 1 of the E for Extinction mini ( and the wretched X-Men 92 first issue)which was very good, but it's not Secret Wars.
Made avoiding the rest of the minis ridiculously easy.

I finally finished Secret Wars 2015
WELL THAT WAS A BORING WASTE OF TIME
Why were people so excited and raving about it? Just the other day someone who I generally respect was trying to tell me that it was the greatest Marvel comic story ever.

I can't remember if it's the last part in Avengers Paninivision this week or next month.
I think the Avengers 2 + year run up was better than the story itself.
I don't think the actual Secret Wars story is as good as it could have been, it's got something, but it's not the central title of a huge event. A bit too.... gentle? whimsical? maybe. As with other Hickman crossovers there's holes in the central story, big ones, and I'm not 100% sure what fills them. None of the tie in titles I've read seem to provide any information on what the crews of the survivors ships get up to, some of the main gaps, and the ones I have read are just what if/elseworlds stories. Good ones in most part, the Age of Apocalypse one was tone perfect.

I think the last part is this week. It's a three month run here isn't it? This week's Avengers should be parts 7-9. Ooh, does that also mean the tie in stories in Hulk are finishing too? I haven't read those yet.
