I'm so excited.
And Andu showed me pictures of an amazing boxed set coming out next June...the birthday month of the Burns.

Bad for Ralph's bank balance. I will be unable to stop myself from buying any comic with Secret Wars written on it.

Think Marvel will use this like they did with Age of Apocalypse and tweak a few things here and there and it won't be a full reboot. There is too much mileage in lording it over DC that they haven't had to reboot to do that now.

I find the nth number of announcements and announcements about announcements to be deeply tedious. I'll just read the comic when it comes out.

I think Marvel attempting to lord their lack of reboot over DC is pretty awful given the vast number of restarts, continuity wipes and oh lets just forget that over their history. Heroes Reborn? Return - Spider-man (take your pick on the reboots/abandoned restarts).
DC attempted to fix their continuity and make things a lot neater, then after a while it got messy again. Marvel have never gotten continuity neat and prefer the ignore it and it'll go away.
For me - Spider-man married Mary Jane, Superman married Lois Lane, just let them live happily ever after you evil global mega-corps!

To be fair with Heroes Reborn the only character that had their history monkeyed around with was Iron Man, after all that Teen Tony/The Crossing mess needed sorted.

The conceit of Marvel is that if you pick up (for example) a Fantastic Four comic from 1967, 1986 or 2015 the characters are the same people with one long history. yes, imagination has to be employed to make it all 'fit' but that's the general idea. It's a large part of the appeal of their universe and a lot of the readership would walk way if it was completely rebooted*. I would++! It's hard to get invested in characters who can have their history wiped at any time. Marvel know that, hence why the Ultimate Universe ran alongside as a separate imprint rather than just replacing the previous Marvel 'Universe'.
It's why I have never really got into DC as a compelling universe. I can't be bothered investing years of time and money just to be told 'none of it counted, so please buy these books with characters with the same names but new histories which are a but similar'. Can't be arsed with it.
-Ralph
++A rare example is when Spider-Man was himself confusingly rebooted in One More Day. I never bought a Spider-Man comic again. *See also 2000AD strips such as Judge Dredd which have run for decades as one continuing story.** **See also many soaps on telly or Doctor Who for long-running narratives in other media.
