Nah. I'm done for now. #1 failed to introduce the premise of the series. No idea what it's about or who is where doing what.
I'll wait for Panini newsstand titles were whatever series actually contain the first parts of it are printed in context.

I refer you to my previous comments on the lack of Hickman Avengers which has been the setup for this. Panini are up sh!t creek printing this now! They can't do it without printing 77 issues of Avengers and New Avengers!

There again I have been saying this for a while now!
But agreed, that's not the first issue of a series. That's the last issue of the Avengers. I'd have started SW where this finishes with the survivors crashed on this new world.

So uh, are DC and Marvel both running identical event books this year??

Do I have to read 77 other comics to understand #1 of this series???

So is Secret Wars genuinely a Crisis on Infinite Earths 'lets reset continuity' event? Or is it a fakeout thing?
Because Marvel really doesn't need that.

It's not 100% clear. We need to wait and see.

It's not 100% clear. We need to wait and see. I can understand if they want to make the comics more like the films, but they're pretty much there already. Apart from getting rid of the X-Men! And Fantastic Four!

the FIrst issue was an absolute lesson in how not to write a first issue if you want to bring in new readers.
A mess.
Pretty, but a mess.

Issue 2: That's a lot more like it!

That was indeed better, although some shameless copying and pasting of artwork, that shot of James Braddock that shows up twice in the space of a few pages...
Still not sold on the event so far.

Going by new news info - Marvel should be starting from scratch with a new Universe but we jump in 8 months later. So some teams might be set up. This could work but if writers can stop with the ref'ing back to Marvel 616. The first time a writer does then the whole thing would fold, us the fans can compare but we don't want character suddenly having flashbacks to events that happen before. ie if they did Hulk origin & suddenly had flashback image to Kirby art. The origin can be the same - but with Hulk I think it could involve an alien attack that released the gamma rays. Edit: pete's 3k post - Phil

3000 posts! ding!
This seems like quite a big step - a total reboot of everything discarding the whole history? Does this mean new origin stories for all?

Nobody knows exactly what Marvel's plans are yet. I doubt it'll be exactly as Pete describes cos that'd just get SW2015 labelled as Marvel's CRISIS. But at the same point I don't expect everything to be the same and new elements to have come in.

Yep, Bleeding Cool is a bit of a mess isn't it? Feels like a step backwards in time to the days when no-one had any real experience in building pages in html in some respects. Or perhaps when frames were first conceived of.

It'll be a waste if you have some new origins but not for these charater & most of the origins rework then a writer is bound to write a story that undoes it all.

I read X-Men 92 the Infinite comic tie-in.
It's bloody awful. Reads like an episode of the cartoon. Avoid at all costs.

Didn't bother with it.
Bored now, 3 issues to set up an alternate world scenario is taking the piss.

Potentially 50-odd number #1's? Ffs. Have they not learned from DC's mistakes? You won't grab new reader that way. No one can afford to buy them all!
