Well that was true for the Dreamwave TF stuff too remember. Grey imports are delightful.

I've read the two IDW mini's so far. The first by Gary Russell is pretty poor to be honest, the issues with Nick's art were enjoyable but mostly for Nick's energetic take on the Doctor. The second mini was much improved and Tony Lee's work was good, save the last issue reveal of the villain it just fell flat for me.

BBC Books OGN - The Only Good Dalek is out now. Picked it up this morning from WH Smiths. Andy Is it any good? I was shocked to see how small it is. It also seems that due to the BBC going into the OGN market, Panini have had to cancel their reprints of the old DWM comics

And their excellent annual Storybooks too, which were the only actual quality British annuals being published these days what with having actual words for kids to read.

It's competent but you can tell it was was not a story written for the Matt Smith Doctor. It's a bit generic, the art is shot from Mike Collins pencils by the looks of things and is a bit rough as a result. Mostly due to the colour palette not really matching it.
Not bad, but not great. Well presented hardcover though.

The BBC Who OGN line was supposed to launch with a Dalek story with the 10th Doctor. It was advertised and never came out, I recall seeing the cover. I would not be suprised if elements of it have been repurposed for this.

I saw this on Hot UK Deals, while of no interest of me I thought this like may be of interest to some of you gentleman. This appears to be a charity site which currently has a pay what you want deal on for IDW Doctor Who comics. www.humblebundle.com/books

Interesting how this has changed from the time the IDW books weren't even supposed to be available here as imports because DWM had exclusivity on comics. Titan seem to have steamrolled through it all, but I like their more sensible three ongoing title approach instead of the mess of mini series IDW did.

A comic with three different Doctor strips inside? Sold!
DWA just won't be able to compete.

I forget, was it ever confirmed that DWM had an exclusive license, or was it just that IDW only had a US license? (Genuinely don't recall).
I am quite liking the sound of this, and could be persuaded to give it a try. I am quite hoping that they take full advantage of the huge gap in TennantDoc's timeline, which gives them a really big, legitamately unexplored gap to play around in.

Tis a good thing. I like the idea. A proper comic instead of the activity mag that Adventures is. Old school. I'll buy it for that reason alone, which is unusual for me because although I'm a big Who fan and a big comics fan, I've never been a fan of Who comics. I think the Dave Gibbons Fourth Doc stuff are the only ones I ever enjoyed. Maybe the Steve Parkhouse Fifth Doc.

It's proper large format magazine size! It will kill DWA by end of the year.

We sort of did. Remember the magazine format reprint TF title that IDW had which died after 3 or 4 issues? Ran three stories an issue from Marvel, Dreamwave and IDW.

Oh this is a bit good isn't it? Larger format than the Panini collection books, but the same idea of three US issues printed as an omnibus. Very neat with the square bound edges & 84 pages. Reminds me of the good old days of Manga Mania. For the price I won't sniff at the slightly substandard paper quality either, given the saving it is on buying the original issues, which I'd never have done.
Yes, the only thing that could make this better is if the stories were about the proper Doctors, but this does look a cut above the DWM offerings.
You know, I can't decide now if I prefer this format to the Panini one, although reading X-Men this big wouldn't feel right. But it is indeed a genuine honest to goodness A4 size comic. What an odd thing to find in a newsagent these days.

It just feels right, a proper sized UK comic.
I don't mind DWM but I think a few moments aside it hasn't really wowed me consistently since the Tenth Doctor era. Some utter belters during that run.

Interesting start. Not sure I can hear an ice lord saying dammed, but the premise has legs. Nice art too. Very Adrian Salmon with the high contrasts.
