Update - First round of chemo is over, it's been tough, but the doctors are cautiously pleased with the blood test results so far. Won't know anything for sure until they can test the bone marrow again though, and that's about 10 days away + a few days to get the results. Another update - Initial bone marrow test result looked great! They want to do another to be sure, but if that looks good then it means probably skipping a second round of intense chemo and proceeding to the "consolidation" course. Which is no walk in the park, but it will be easier and will mean she can return home sooner (though each monthly round of consolidation will still mean a 2 week+ hospital stay). She has had to battle through pneumonia after the first round, which is not uncommon, but the doctors are happy with how she's recovering from that. Tough times but we're remaining hopeful. |

IIRC Redundancy is 1 months salary tax free per complete year of service

I wouldn't even get a full month's wage. So I will tough it out and hope I avoid the chop. Last time I was made redundant, I was entitled to £0.00. Nor was I entitled to any state benefits (despite paying NI) as my partner earns over 7k. This will still be the case so are looking at a cliff-edge situation if I am booted. Nightmare scenario. Yeah, but these things just can't be predicted for all sorts of reasons I would not go into online. If it was down just to performance alone I would rate my chances but in these types of situations there are many moving parts at higher levels.
I have a four day week coming up, which is for the best as my nerves are ******.

The latest news here is positive at least - today the doctors told my wife she’s recovered so well from the last round that she can come home for a few days from tomorrow before beginning the next round of chemo next week!
Her first time out of hospital since the end of January, so of course she’s super happy. There’s still a way to go, she’s fragile, and she’s lost a lot of weight (and hair) but this is still really positive given the circumstances.
