The way he seems to transform is that the robot head, back and arms come out of the space where the sled would have been. It's a shame there isn't an option to have this part removable and then have the separate sled fold up and replace this as an alternative. The remaining piece looks like it could almost become the windscreen faced robot (the legs are already there - it would just need some arms from somewhere.)

Ironhide was showing on Kapow as being out of stock, which I believe is due to all their expected stock being sold on pre-orders. When an "out of stock" item actually comes in, a few pre-orders are always cancelled or cards are declined or somesuch, so an item that appeared sold out can sometimes leap back into availability. So it has been with Ironhide! Get 'em while they're hot, I guess!-Nick

Mine's enroute from TFSExpress. They have stock too. It may look dubious, but it's still a new Masterpiece...

I think I need to wait for mine to dispatch as I put in an order for 27-29 all at once to save on shipping.

I'll let Phil kiss and tell. He enjoys reporting more than I do.
All I'll say is the conversion is fiendishly clever, the hip panels don't cause any issues, and he's, well, just so handsome.

Got home from work to find a box waiting for me on the couch. Ironhide is here.
Sideswipe/Red Alert are fun. Prowl/Bluestreak/Smokescreen are really good, but the transformation is a bit tricky and unintuitive in places. Wheeljack is really good. Bumblebee is small but elegant and has a really clever transformation. Tracks is a wee bit fiddly, gappy and disappointing, but nowhere near as bad as some fans have said. Ironhide is sublime. I suspect this was designed by the same person who did Bumblebee.
Vehicle mode is just flawless. It looks exactly like the one I briefly had as a kid (borrowed from a friend), and is the size I remember it being- the same strategy employed by Hasbro in their gigantified Star Wars vehicles. Comes with a ridiculous assortment of weaponry in his pseudo-MARB- the only disappointment is that it doesn't have the original's tank treads. Transformation is fantastic- intuitive and incredibly clever. You can mount his weapons all over the shop in both modes.
While the design has worked incredibly hard to get the Sunbow animation model out of the classic van mode, Takara have also bent over backwards to homage the original toy as much as possible. The vehicle mode is an oversized copy of the original in a way the other cars aren't quite with their subtly different proportions. The original toy seat/face sticker is present and correct as moulded details behind the windscreen so those who are so inclined can transform to his proper toy/Ladybird book appearance as well. MP Ironhide is a labour of love, and I love it.
Does that help, Ian?

I will say for the sake of balance... Folks have expressed concern over his proportions from stock photos. IMO, the head, torso, and arms all scale to each other perfectly... if *anything*, and I really am reaching here, the legs might be a tad too long.
But I'm in full agreement with Nick; best since Bumblebee.

I knew about the face, but you can get the toy accurate robot from it too? I have a tracking number, should be here tomorrow. And that great list - are those all MPs you've just bought?!

Good Lord! I had no idea. Is that a fan mode or intentional? This puts an entirely different perspective on things. I must buy this! Oh wait, I already did. Hurry up Royal Mail!

It's not in the instructions, but the original toy's "face sticker" is sculpted detail on a piece that winds up behind the windscreen in vehicle/'84 toy homage mode. Genius.
